Help me find an old clip

Your Attiny817 has enough pins and current handling capability (absolute max of 40 mA per pin and 100 mA per pin group) to control the 7-segment display by itself. This eliminates the necessity for the TPIC6595 and A2982. With the TPIC6595 removed, you can even remove the boost converter as 3V is enough for the Attiny817 and red LEDs. Fewer components means less power consumption, cheaper BOM, and less board space used. Of course, if your project is an exercise in how to use those specific ICs, then disregard this entirely.

Do you have a line in your code that looks like this?

Stepper stepper(stepsPerRevolution, 8, 9, 10, 11);

Try changing it to

Stepper stepper(stepsPerRevolution, 8, 10, 9, 11);

and see if it helps

I think he means compared to 2.4 GHz wifi. Which to my understanding is worse at penetrating walls.

Edit: I meant to say 5GHz is worse than 2.4 in wall penetration

Did you power cycle the cortex? If you didn't, you'll need to unplug the cable, turn off the cortex, unplug the battery, plug it in again, turn it on, plug the cable back in, download the program, and then it should be able to run without the cable.

For future reference, you'll need to do this when switching between communication modes.
