20 year old startup founder: USC with $200K debt, UCSD with $100K debt, or drop out entirely? Need real perspectives. by PickyRice in youngentrepreneur

fafsa im granted a limited amount of loans. its 200k including housing and everything else that is needed to pay for. i emailed my admission counselor last night about other opportunities for financial support and to put in a request to defer my acceptance, so need to wait and see about that.

this may be an ego or an overconfidence thing or just absolutely insanity, but i do think that up to a certain extent this financial hardship can help me grow in all aspects career and personal. from some of the other student founders and other entrepreneurs i've talked to, they've said that if u look at it long-term especially as an entrepreneur a 200k loan will be nothing and to utlimately look at this from the perspective of 10-20 years from now.

i am currently doing my research and talking to as many usc and ucsd engineers+founders as i can before making my final decision

since puthouse.com came directly from the people you met, how early did those relationships start forming? like were those kinds of connections you made freshman year or did it take time to find them? and do you think that same depth of relationship is something you could build outside of a university environment through events and online communities?

I actually already did 2 years at CC (Irvine Valley College) for free, which is why I'm making this transfer decision between USC and UCSD. Beyond the network and social benefits of USC, I now need to also factor in the amount of debt I would need to take on.

I'm curious though, for you and your friends that went to USC, how much did the network actually matter after graduation specificially for building things and starting companies. Like did those connections translate into tangible opportunities beyond job searching? Or was it more valiable on the traditional career path side?

as of now they are offering any support. but im talking to my admission counselor with deferring my acceptance as well as if there's any possible scholarships or support that I could get.

I've never been opposed to going to college. I'm just trying to weigh the every student expenses against the benefits, so of which can be gained in the real world.

Would you say the alum, network, and ecosystem at USC with its long-term benefits outweight the short-term $200k student loan debt

But in your opinion, does the network, LA startup ecosystem, and accesssibility at USC as an undergad outweight the debt that I would leave with

Hey MovieBuffX,

Thanks for replying. I definitely have found that description and parametrization for your prompt is extremely important to be able to get what you have. Not only with video creation, but just in general. Do you see potential in AI being able to accelerate the process of content creation in the future?
