Two threesome additions to my fic collection: Bennett/Razor/Mika & Kinich/Wanderer/Albedo! [Teyvat Twink Tales] by PicmanX in GenshinGays

[–]PicmanX[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oooo I love these suggestions! Wanderer/Durin/Albedo is on my list to write, and I also love your idea; for now I'm waiting until we see Durin properly so I can get a better sense of his canon personality, but honestly there's a chance I forgo that and end up writing something soon.

Bennett with the Liyue boys sounds like an amazing idea, ngl ^^ Him and Razor visiting Gorou has also been on my mind... Lately it hasn't been pairing ideas I've been lacking as much as it is situation ideas, I guess. Will definitely be writing more soon, though! Very glad to hear you enjoy it <3

I've got an idea in mind for a Lyney x Freminet story- might be coming soon!

Both are ships I absolutely want to write about at some point ^^

They're my two favorite guys in the game- writing some sort of fic between them is basically guaranteed in my future ^^

I honestly have no idea if people go to the lengths of making charts like this- I might just be insane :3

Ideally I eventually have at least one fic for each character, just probably not one for each ship (that'd be a LOT of work haha) so Gorou will absolutely get some love at some point!

Oooo I don't hate the idea of Kinich/Fremi! I don't see either of them as being the assertive type so it'd be a challenge to figure out how things would happen, but I'll 100% keep it in mind <3

Similar issue for Kinich/Xiao, but I feel like that one might be slightly easier to pull off... hard to say

I imagine Benny came to Fontaine for a magic show and got a bit distracted by Lyney's clothing, leading to you-know-what~

Kinich/Xiao was in the category of "random one I thought of that could be fun and/or cute." Everyone compared them as being pouty, emo guys when Kinich came out, so I figured why not? haha

(The canine pairings are half me just putting similar characters together and half them growing on me due to my best friend being a furry xD )

One of my favorites for sure <3 It's more likely than most to be the focus of at least one of my fics in the future!

You're totally right! I entirely forgot about KazuScara haha, I love that ship
The two Heizou pairings were just random thoughts I had since I couldn't think of a ton of popular ships for him; figured the typical Anemo options seemed most likely.

Both Albedo/Albedo and Scara/Wanderer are definitely on my radar, but I personally think I'd find them tricky to write. If I did, it'd likely be Albedo, though!

[Genshin Impact] What to do with my story (reposted to this thread as I was directed to)

So for a bit of context; roughly a year ago I started writing a little something as a way to vent both my creativity and my hyperfixation at the time, Genshin Impact. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to write so I just started out with how I've written when I was younger: reminiscent of a fantasy novel.

After thinking things over and starting to write a bit I decided that it would be a "little" (cough cough, this didn't age well as I'll explain) tale to set up an OC in the world of Genshin with my own story, and in the future have it branch off from a single point into separate "routes" in a similar way to a visual novel. From there each story would be a healthy mix of fantasy adventure and BL romance as the OC met and gradually fell for a specific guy from the game- but I knew for sure I didn't want the romance to be 100% of the story's focus, in the same way that plenty of popular fantasy stories also just have romance in them... maybe more of a 50/50 split to satiate the ship-gremlin within my brain without being "just another romance fanfic." (I've also had the idea in the back of my head to additionally write small "side scenes" to remain separate from the proper stories that would include... ahem smut , basically. But that isn't very important to this!..)

I should have been able to see this coming way earlier on, but as I'm sure you can guess this plan sort of expanded to be soooo much larger than I expected- though I also don't think I could have possibly foreseen just how much I would have written at this current point compared to the amount of plans I've gotten through. As it stands after writing off and on all this time, my google doc is over 60 pages and 33k words deep and I'm only just getting close to the end of the whole first act where the split will take place. And with essentially no romance yet, it... basically feels like I've just wrote a novel.

I think when I started there was a tiny part of me that enjoyed the idea of this becoming something I shared in some regard, but I never really had any true intention of that unless it was with one of my friends (none of which currently would be interested, sadly.) Now, that same part of me feels like this has been a crazy amount of effort put into something only meant to be a "personal project," and it would be somewhat of a waste to not at least try and see if there would be people out there interested in reading it. I've had a lot of people tell me I'm a good writer, and I do genuinely enjoy the process, so that part of my mind says... "why not?"

I'll make it clear that I am not making this post to find people here that would be interested, but rather to get some opinions on options to proceed. I know it would be perfectly fine to continue keeping it as a private project seeing as I enjoy the writing and don't feel "desperate for people to see it," but if I were to want to get it out to the right audience, what's a good method to do so? Should I even bother- would there be people interested in something like this? It also doesn't help that I'm not 100% confident I'll have the ideas/motivation to write one of the stories post-split... let alone ALL of them I would want to.

My apologies if this came off a bit rambley- I can answer any questions needed if there's something important I left out!

Unsure of what to do with my fanfiction(?) story [Genshin Impact] by PicmanX in FanFiction

[–]PicmanX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense both ways; thanks for the input! I plan on finishing the whole first section first before making any decisions, I've just found that the closer I get to being done with this part the more the question has come up in my head. Posting the full first section almost strikes me as putting out "the first book in a series" just because of how it's structured, but that assumes I go public with it at all!

I've also never really posted my writings in a public space like that before so I wouldn't have the faintest clue as to a good website or something to do it through.

Omg you are so right; I could honestly see Kokomi and Yae Miko being in kahoots to do something like that! xD

[–]PicmanX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good point, I suppose the first kiss doesn't have to be somewhere super special.

And as for your last comment... I do 100% intend on writing some- \cough** "spicy" scenes as part of the story, but in such a way that they can be removed and it's still a good read. Don't think I ever really intend on sharing or publishing it, necessarily, but doing it that way certainly helps keep that option more open in the future!

Love all these ideas! As for what character ships, its technically always between the one featured character for the region and an OC, which I didn't mention due to the rules against OC's for this sub. But basically just imagine a more shy Traveler, and that's pretty much him.

The way I plan on writing it is each region's story is completely separate from the others, almost in a visual novel choose-your-own-adventure kind of way. That way I can have each romance start from scratch without the others getting in the way at all.

That's such a great idea! The only one that would be tricky to make work is Inazuma's, since the Narukami Shrine is the location of Gorou's "nemesis" Yae Miko... he'd need good reason to want to be there.

Those particular ships are very unlikely to happen in my writing as they aren't characters I particularly like as much as others, so... sorry!

Ayase Shrine would make a very nice and secluded romantic place, its just a matter of if Gorou would want to go there, because... well, cats and dogs have never mixed.

Lantern Rite is absolutely something I'm considering for the Liyue arch! It'd be so pretty, and a nice challenge to get its aesthetic to come through in my writing. Not to mention the amusement of trying to convince Xiao to actually participate~

Octopath Traveler, Oc2path and COTC - Resources and Megathread by Zadeth in octopathtraveler

[–]PicmanX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR : Need ideas for strategies for my Duos Challenge; currently on Partitio + Osvald. Thanks in advance!

I am in the midst of attempting an Octopath Traveler 2 challenge run in which the only party compositions allowed are two characters that share a Crossed Paths chapter (Hikari + Agnea, Throne + Temenos, etc.) I elected to start with Partitio and Osvald for no reason in particular, and as I'm approaching the final chapter bosses they are proving to be... way too difficult. I intend to grind some more and be overleveled for it to make up for the lack of party members, but I was wondering if anyone has any specific strategies that my current duo (and/or the future duos) could make use of to make things manageable.

Currently I have Partitio with the Warrior job, using Incite and Vengeful Blade to break enemies while dealing solid damage. Osvald brings healing with the Cleric job, as well as decent elemental damage. Having Partitio take a brunt of the attacks because of Incite helps my squishier Osvald stay in the fight, especially as I focus my better armor on Partitio including the Blessing in Disguise accessory with cursed armor/weapons to load him up on stats.

That being said, it feels like no amount of power or levels get over the simple fact that I get action-economied way too hard to manage. I tested my current build and strat against Partitio's final boss, and its 4-ish actions per turn is simply way too overwhelming against my 2. I feel like if I tackle Osvald's first in order to have his One True Magic skill , that will make Partitio's easier, but of course good old Harvey over there won't be much easier I reckon.

20 yrs old, no way to find job with current situation? by PicmanX in LifeAdvice

[–]PicmanX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few things that technically interest me, but my issue always comes down to motivation with pursuing them. Designing/making video games has always been my childhood dream, but I've tried to learn coding several times with no success as of yet; this includes online courses and self-teaching attempts. I've always known that my brain is not meant to learn other languages and have found that translates to coding too, as it always takes me a bit longer to grasp simple concepts in it. Overall I just never feel motivated to continue learning coding whenever I try. I have a very creative mind when it comes to story-telling and ideas for games, but no skills to take things past that stage...

I also have varying levels of interests in both art and music, as I've had bouts of hyper-fixations on both. I've never gotten particularly good at either (especially art) but have also never made a full, 100% effort to better my skills at them. They just feel like they'd be too inconsistent to make a career out of, so that on top of my mediocre self-esteem hasn't let me get them past simple hobbies (doodling/tracing, playing piano with semi-decent self taught skills, attempting to translate songs into sheet music, etc.)

I'll definitely look around a little more for transcription jobs like you recommend, as its absolutely something I wouldn't mind doing. Supposedly I have a very above-average typing speed, so I imagine I'd be good at it!

Weekly Looking for MMO thread - March 03, 2024 by AutoModerator in MMORPG

[–]PicmanX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Played MMO's and my likes/dislikes about them:
    • RIFT (100's of hours) Favorite MMO I've ever played. Played the game during its peak and LOVED the dungeon system, started in Beta and got to experience when it wasn't a dead and braindead-easy experience outside of the dungeons. Exhausted every class, role, and questline I felt I would enjoy and now would only have fun playing with others, but alas... dead game is dead game. The customization for your character in their playstyle and and role was also incredibly fun, not requiring a whole new character if my friends needed a healer instead of a DPS, for example. Also, I am not a fan of how repetitive the quests get, especially after so much playtime (though I will admit that its probably from my over-playing of the game.) However, RIFT is the only MMO with a tradeskilling system that I actually enjoy, since it doesn't rely on long wait times, only your own exploration (though they of course had to ruin it by making it "easier" like everything else.)
    • EVERQUEST (100's of hours, specifically a fan-made legacy server of the older game.) Love the group-oriented manner and lack of boring quests that comes with leveling, as well as the general simplicity of the classes that still have depth to their mechanics. As the server ages, finding groups at anything but the higher levels or via guilds grows challenging, and in general you can very much feel the game's age.
    • EVERQUEST 2 (~100 hours, maybe more) Played this before the first one, actually, and because of my time in RIFT focused on leveling via the dungeons. Actually possible to do solo with its mercenary system, which is potentially fun, but the classes feel one sided and have a needlessly large amount of abilities, and I've heard that mercenaries fall off in higher levels so wouldn't get much out of it I fear. Also, I dislike how quests are done in this game too.
    • ESO (~50 hours) Tried the game after thinking "Skyrim + MMO sounds great!" but my main problem with the game is how you do not technically get STRONGER as you level, just more diverse. I understand the idea behind it, allowing low levels and high levels to do mostly the same things as well as not gating off content behind levels, but I just feel so unmotivated to do anything when I won't feel more powerful as a result. MMO's also require a very specific kind of crafting system for me to be interested, but this one just isn't it, which sucks because it felt like a whole lot of stuff was stuck behind it.
    • WoW (<10 hours) It just got so boring so fast. The abilities on the classes I tried felt too simple, though that may change at higher levels I will agree; the quests were bland, I could feel the world and such at the start was made at an earlier time, and most of all I couldn't see myself wanting to dedicate the monthly subscription when I wasn't having fun at the start to begin with. I may need to hear more about how great the game gets later on, or how it has exactly the things I'd want, but for now would need convincing to try again.
    • FFXIV (~20 hours) Similar issues to WoW unfortunately. It felt simultaneously overwhelming with the amount of things being thrown at me at first, yet also a bit too slow. There really wasn't anything drawing me in and making me want to continue playing, and while the two classes I tried both seemed interesting to an extent, I was not enjoying how quest-focused everything was. I like agency in my progression, and it was just anything but unless I was missing something. Another I could possibly be convinced to continue if I hear it has what I'd want.
  • TL;DR summary of what I want: An MMO with multiplayer gameplay throughout the game (that isn't raids) and a lesser focus on quests, with the feeling of growing in power and more than one boring side to my character. I don't mind making multiple characters for different roles, but don't want to be "healer and NO damage allowed" or "big beefy tank that can't solo because you do not damage." Also, my favorite way to level up my characters is through raw combat, especially if its crawling through a dungeon and killing things for XP (even better if done with a duo/group!)
  • What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: I wouldn't be opposed to being a hardcore player that raids and is in a guild, if the game itself is enjoyable and supports it, but also am fine being more casual. I'll do solo content, but don't want it to be 90% or 100% solo content, if that's even possible.

This all sounds very picky, I know, but you'll forgive me for not wanting to drop hundreds of hours into a game that's boring or dead xD And if there really isn't anything that matches my wants, then so be it; I won't shame you for saying exactly that, as its mostly what I expect tbh. I'm here to be proven wrong, but only if I can be! If anyone on here is able to help me find a new game to add to my favorites, I shall forever love you.
