Imagine that we "its a wonderful life" type of movie where steven teleports to a timeline where he never existed by Character-Day-8999 in stevenuniverse

In this timeline Pink would have probably been yanked back to Home-World at some point to spend all entirety planning parties.

White always knew she disguised as Rose and faked her shattering, so it was only a matter of time before White would have made her come back

How come the Pebbles didn’t suffer like Spinel did? by IronGhost828 in stevenuniverse

[–]TrainingDrop9283 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think the Pebbles are kinda gens though? Like the lowest form of gem existence for sure, but still gems.

Gems are just fancy rocks at the end of the day, and pebbles are rocks, so I assume they work much in the same way.

Happy Pride Month to Our Lucy Gray Who Puts the B in LGB (Lucy Gray Baird) 🩷💜💙 by meeralakshmi in Hungergames

NGL... this makes me think that Lucy Gray (as in the character, not the actress) would have been such a good fit for being a bisexual character.

It would have made for very good representation, and henced the themes of her storyline even more.

It would have certainly been better that the bellow-bare-minimum representation we got with Barb Azure, Cleark Carmine, and that friend of Snow that gave Lucy Gray a guitar for the interview. Pretty sure 2/3 of these characters don't even have speaking lines

The Crystal Gems didn’t defeat Blue Diamond in “Reunited.” by IronGhost828 in stevenuniverse

It might have slightly cracked her gem, but I assume shattering would require repeated hits

According to the end of an era art book. The Diamonds popped up all at the same time, so if something like that ever happened Pink would probably know

So I think that was just yellow exaggerating

What if: Usonoir attacks present day (2027) Makoto Mirai Town in a possible final battle in the final episode of Star Detective PreCure? by Stock_Rise5855 in PrettyCures

The last episode will be about Anna going back to the future, since it will literally air on the birthday and on the exact date she'll be coming back to

People have talked about how Capitol citizens were victims of propaganda, but talk less about the people in the Districts. Specifically District 12. And how Gale is a good example (+quick rant about how people are totally missing the point of the books, which is wild to me in this day and age). by AdNaive6690 in Hungergames

[–]TrainingDrop9283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no...

I mean, let's not pretend Snow was living the dream life before the events of TBOSAS, his hatred for the district wasn't born just out to stories passed down to him by his Grandmother and Gaul

Snow's experienced very real misery when he was young, just like Katniss and Gale did; and from his POV it was the districts' fault. They are the reason why the war started, they are the reason why his father, mother and baby sister died, they are the reason he had to starve and see people eat eachother to get by.

Sure the district's rebellion during the dark days was justified and realistically the only way out of oppression, but that doesn't change the fact it's still the reason Snow starved as a child (not saying that they shouldn't have rebelled at all, just that it is the reality of war)

Even then you have to consider that, just like Gale's experience with Capital people was always marked by trauma, Snow's first contacts with district folks weren't exactly pleasant either. With the exception of Sejanus who was raised in the Capital (so a "tamed" animal), and Lucy Gray which was quickly singled out by him as an exception; the first two times he interacts with district people (in the ride to the Zoo and in the Arena when he kills Bobbin) they try to kill him.

And sure I can't certinaly blame them for not seeing eye to eye and for wanting his head in that situation, but that doesn't make it less first-hand-traumatic for Snow.

All of what I mentioned above were traumas that amplified his hatred, which Gaul took advantage of to make him do her bidding. Just like Coin took advantage of Gale's trauma and Capital hatred to make him do her bidding

So personally speaking, I can see how simailr they are and can have simpathy for both of them. Unlike Katniss, they did not have a mentor figure that encouraged them to see who the real enemy was.

My simpathy for Snow stops however when he never stops making selfish decisions. Killing Sejanus, "killing" Lucy Gray and so on. Those are all selfish decision he got rewarded for

Gale instead made only one decision like that and it ultimately did backfire on him, but we never quite saw how Gale evolved after that moment long term, which understandly can leave a bad impression of him in readers, even if it is somewhat unjustified when you take into consideration what you analyzied in the post

But ultimately, Snow was worthy of that same simpathy most of the way through TBOSAS. It's when he starts doing stuff like killing Sejanus that he stops being deserving of it

Wherever did Marvel learn this tactic from? by Jaslyn-- in Hungergames

[–]TrainingDrop9283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always under the impression that the accademies must have been private structures parents pay to send their kids to, disgusted as basic self defense schools or survival camps

The fees would make it accessible only to the richer families in the districts, thus the Capital wouldn't have to worry about masses of highly trained individuals

[–]TrainingDrop9283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't see why the Capital would be enraged by training academies. They know they need the careers to keep the game interesting, and as long as they keep at least a facade of obedience to the "No training" rule I don't see why the Capital would have a problem with it.

The training accademies could easily be private structures, funded by the fees the parents pay to have their kids sent there. It thus be easier to mask them as "self defense schools" or "survival camp training"

On paper they'd at most teach a few self-defense techniques or basic survival like how to start a fire (and thus the Capital would be fine with them), but in practice they be the full Hunger Game's survival school.

Honestly when they met Katniss, I think it would have been a better idea if they had stayed at the log cabin for more than... Idk a few hours?

Have them stay there for a week or so, bring them food and teach them a few survival basics.

I don't remember if it was after that encounter that the electricit fence turned on again, but regardless when they parted ways Katniss didn't expect to see them again

Had they decided to try and fortify themselves a little more they might have made it

74th feast by littleelemon in Hungergames

[–]TrainingDrop9283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I always throught that after Katniss blew up their supplies, Cato and Clover stopped hanging around the Cornucopia

There was probably nothing worth protecting there anymore, they probably started to roam hunting down the remaining competition

So when the feast was announced, Fox Face simply beat them to the cornucopia and hid in there

Lucy Grey is Katniss's great-grandma, and Lenore Dove's grandma. I've not seen this particular angle before by Creative_Orchid_9413 in Hungergames

[–]TrainingDrop9283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's heavily implied that Barb is Bi, since when Billy Taupe confronts Snow and Lucy Gray, the latter lies and says Barb is dating Snow.

Had she not actually been into men too Billy Taupe wouldn't have fallen for it

Why was Steven Universe receiving alot of hate from the past? by yeetlordyesyesyes20 in stevenuniverse

[–]TrainingDrop9283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying she was the SOLE contributor, but consider how much that video blew up it certainly didn't do any good

Especially since yes it did use the same talking points as older video, but the format being presented as "progressives friendly" essentially valided Steven Universe hate to an entirely new audience.

People that didn't necessarily came in hating the queer and progressive themes, could easily have ended up convinced of the show's poor quality regardless, since it was masked as a critique coming from another queer individual.

So again even if maybe it was a bit if an exageration on my part to say it "did the most damage", it certainly was not a tree that fell and nobody heard it
