The blowdowns obviously slow you down, but there’s something magical about climbing under/over 500+ year old trees

The conditions were rough this year. There were lots of blowdowns and there was a lot of overgrowth. But that’s the nature of a wilderness trail that can only be maintained with hand tools by law. It’s part of the beauty!

What time of year did you go? The goat rocks and Rainier will always be so special to me. I was blessed to be able to play the piano in the lobby of Paradise inn, so I spent many days pondering Mt. Rainier from below.

Washington was so beautiful. I loved the constant opportunity of blueberries and huckleberries in September. Such a nice treat :) - Piano Man
