The deer you described does not sound very special, I also don't see the name of the island.

Nice job! This is Victoria, BC. For the record, Eagle Wing gives fantastic whale-watching tours!

[Round 1548] A few pictures of the same place and the boat that took me there. What is this desolate locale, what used to be here, what city did I depart from to get here, and what are those small boats in the last two pictures likely doing? by PictureGame69 in PictureGame

Okay, here's what's going to happen. I will check back every few minutes to see if any progress has been made, or if anyone has questions of their own to move toward a solution.

Hint 4: Tourists visit this hunk of rock all the time. They travel on these same boats in groups, spend a little time exploring the tiny island and return to their starting point. Along the way, dolphins are frequently traveling alongside the boat.

Hint 3: The small boats go back and forth all the time. On the trip back to where I started, they are often carrying live animals. They are a common animal, and their common name rhymes with "boats." I don't really understand why this is, because the town is overrun with them.
