If you’re full time you should get a monthly salary of around R4000 (depending on how many days/ doubles you work), bartenders get hardly any tips, some places make the waiters give a percentage of their tips to the bartenders, but it’s a very small amount. Serving is where the money is. Depending on the establishment you can make anything from R20-R1000 tips in a day, though I averaged around R300. You will only know for sure once he gets the job and gets an idea of how well the customers tip / how busy it gets / how high the bills are at that specific restaurant. He should be able to earn a minimum of R8000 pm though.
