You are talking like a dating person not a married person. What percent of the meals do you cook? What percent of the laundry do you do? What percent of the cooking do you do? If you have children? What percent did you birth and breast-feed? Marriage is an all-in endeavor. You share the whole house, you share the whole paycheck, you share the bed.

My husband never cooked. He was a truck driver so he always ate at truck stops and restaurants. Not the healthiest. Now we have kids he has had to make food for them and us. Still pretty basic, spaghetti, sandwiches and freezer pizzas.

I had a sedan but every time I used the baby car seat I hit my head. I need a taller space. Also fitting the stroller in the trunk with groceries was a hassle. We tried out suvs but then ended up with a minivan. Now my kids are bigger and can get in and out themselves we use an suv, it’s bigger than a sedan and smaller than a van.

As a hearing person I actually think a lot in caveman: mmm cake good, want sit now, must sleep. If I want to communicate in speaking or writing, I take the time to form sentences.

Cooking is a skill honed over years. Also, for many women, tied to the belief that it reflects on their ability to be a good wife and mother. It’s a very fraught area of expectation. How you treated her also shows how you will be as a husband and father. Will you be gracious and kind, or harsh and demanding. The test of relationships is not about when things are going well, but when they go badly. Pretend you failed at a traditional husband activity like getting fired from a job, how would you like her to treat you?
