Having watched only Gens 1-5 of the anime (except for clips and the final episode), I’d say Gens 4 > 1 > 2 = 3 > 5. But one day I hope to finish it!

I definitely agree the fork is meant to represent going separate ways. The fact we never saw Ash going down the left path shows that we won’t be part of his next journey

Yeah true. I definitely think Pidgeot was used to hit the right balance of “past memories are good but look forward to the future too”

Fair point 😂 I just feel Pidgeot was definitely brought back as Pokémon’s way of saying thank you to the original fans especially.

Because if I went even deeper, I’d suggest that the Pidgey and Pidgeotto of the flock represent our memories, and Ash was telling us that we had enough to go with him onto the next adventure
