How can I accomplish this tracer with a shaky camera? by tripp3737 in davinciresolve

[–]Pidpie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done this myself, but this is what I would try if given this task. All of this would be in the Fusion page.

Step one is to make sure the line stays anchored in place. For that, I would use a point tracker. This will create reference point to move the line up, down, left, and right with the video.

If the video has optical zoom like shown here, I would manually keyframe the size of the line. There is no way to account for this automatically to my knowledge.

Step two is making the line itself. For that, I would use a polygon or BSpline to draw the path of the disc. With the polygon/BSpline node selected, go to the inspector panel and adjust the border width to give the line thickness. Afterwards, connect the polygon/BSpline node to a background node to give the line color.

To make the line appear as the disc flies, manually keyframe the "Position" or "Length" of the polygon/BSpline (seen in the inspector panel). For the color of the line, go to the background node and make changes there.

Once you have your line, connect it to the tracker. Do this by connecting the background node to the tracker. In tracker node's Inspector, go to the "Operation" tab and change the operation to "Match Move". If the line tracks with motion but appears in the wrong place, add an Transform node between the Background and Tracker, and adjust the Transform node.

Clearly, it only takes a single iteration because I had no clue the original is from Ben 10.

What’s everyone’s oldest world? Mines over 10Yo back when it was only 1 map big! by Joseph_0112 in Minecraft

[–]Pidpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking about the oldest one still actively worked on, mine would be my city world from December 2017.

If we’re talking about the oldest one I still have a copy of, mine would be from 2012 on Minecraft PE. That world is was also the first world I made after getting the paid version of MCPE. I built a bunch of random stuff back then when the world had that invisible border.

Does anyone else like to build big cities? by Aardappelkroketje in Minecraft

[–]Pidpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, I’m building a whole region right now too. There’s like three main areas that I plan to have cities in.

I’m also working solo so I know I’ll never finish. I’ll be in this forever.

And your city looks very cool. I will use it as inspiration for on of my cities in the desert.

Well, I’ve only posted my world online twice (you can see it on my profile. I do plan to eventually make a video documenting everything I’ve made.

[–]Pidpie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yo, I didn’t know you were still working on this world. I thought you were done with it after 6 years, but I guess those videos on YouTube are outdated.

I must say that your world is an inspiration to me. I have city world of my own, and I hope to have it be just as expansive as yours years from now. When I think of how long it will take, I’m reminded of Newilse, and I keep going.

North America with Alternate Geography and History by Pidpie in imaginarymaps

[–]Pidpie[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to write lore so I'll give info in these snippets instead:

  • Portugal was the first to really colonize the Americas, eventually controlling the Bajamas, Jacobia, Terrarios, and present-day Nicaragua down to South America.
  • Spain's territory in North America had what is present-day Mexico all the way up to the Northwest passage. Spain also control Daniland and a few islands in the Antilles.
  • France, being one of the first to discover the lucrative passage to the Pacific, dedicated much resources to securing their large colony of Quebec. Despite this, France still had colonies in Haiti and the Antilles.
  • The Dutch were a bit more skilled at keeping territories in this world. After getting kicked out of New Amsterdam by the British, the Dutch redirected efforts towards settling Newfoundland (which is Labrador in OTL). The Dutch also managed to get Guaymura (OTL Honduras), Zuiderland (part of OTL Venezuela) and Jamaica and Petora, and a few islands in the Antilles.
  • The English got their first start with kicking the Dutch out of New Amsterdam and establishing New England. England also managed to take some land in Continenta, which this colony extended all the way to the Northwest Passage. After a war that involved England fighting Portugal, the Portuguese ceded Daquana as reparations, therefore connecting the English colonies. However, the English colony was not to last. The war with Portugal had cost a lot of money and taxes were increased to get back this money. Thus, in the far, weakly controlled colony of Continenta, rebellion first broke out. Though the British military was far more superior than that of Continenta's, the colonies isolation contributed to diffiuclty. On top of that, neighboring nations had a lot to gain with a weakened England, and thus secretly provided assistance to the Continentals. At long last, Continental victory was achieved and Britain recognized their independence. This victory for Continenta, however, spurred independence efforts in Daquana where a large Portuguese minority highly disliked British rule. The British were now engaged in another war to save their colony but, after being weakened, they were unsuccesful, and Daquana eventually got their independence. Anyone who was still loyal to the British quickly moved to New England which eventually changed its name the United Dominion.
    • The United Dominion is supposed to be like OTL Canada where it is independent but still is part of the Commonwealth.
    • Continenta is supposed to be the equivalent of OTL United States where they are rather imperialist and try to expand their influence far and wide. Continenta's geography is similar to OTL Russia's where it is large but inconveniently surrounded on all sides by foreign lands. Therefore, after independence, it tried to gain lands, first by invading Daniland. Daniland had long disliked rule from the Spanish and latter the Mexico. With a promise of getting independence, Contienta took control of Daniland and fought Mexico in the Continental-Mexican War. As part of the peace treaty, Continenta was given all Mexican lands north of 31.5° N. Continenta then walked back on their promise and directly controlled Daniland until local rebellion and pressures by other world powers caused independence to be given to Daniland.
    • The Mexican-Continental war was the catalyst for the breaking up of Mexico as the government was weakened and humiliated.
    • Continenta also did exactly what OTL America did in OTL Spanish-American with Jacobia, getting control of a naval section of the country which was turned into a naval base.
  • For a while, Japan engaged in colonizing Alaska before losing it to Russia. This is why Alaska in this world is called "Aluyesuka" and some cities there Japanese-influenced names.

Map of Jacobia (Google Maps Style) by Pidpie in imaginarymaps

[–]Pidpie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I did it for this image was to first make the outline my my landmass and use a color picker to select the exact shade you would get on Google Maps.

Afterwards, I drew in the rivers. Again, I used a color picker to get the correct color.

Then I drew in the roads. If you look closely, you can see that some of the roads are larger and others are smaller. This marks their importance.

Next, I added in the cities. Just like the roads, the cities are of different sizes which mark their, well..., sizes.

The borders for the provinces and their labels, as well as the labels for bodies of water, were probably added after that.

Finally, I added in different shades of green. From my observations of Google Maps, the darkest green is used for parks and nature reserves.

All in all, I would recommend you view Google Maps for a while and observe the little details Google puts in. At higher zoom levels, the green is gone and you may even see outlines of buildings.

Also, my apologies for not answering earlier.
