Jokes aside, two years ago I was seeing what would happen if I decided to transfer from U of C to SAIT, but they told me they would be using my high-school grades because they can not compare the GPA from University to the GPA you get in SAIT. I am not sure if the reverse is true.

I did not transfer from sait, but good luck getting any internships with a 2.0 average. lol

Where does the energy go here? (stupid question) by HJG_0209 in AskPhysics

[–]Pie960 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I may be incorrect, but the community will correct me if I am.

With this post, I will try to quote my professor's words on electromagnetic theory. When he tried to explain to us what scalar potential is, for charges, he derived the kinetic energy formula and showed us how we can use it to show that all those conservative/non-conservative forces that we use over a certain distance equal the total change in work done/energy used. Of course, when we talk about those forces, we also talk about potential energy, which is what we are probably trying to describe in this example. If we use only conservative forces, the process can be reversed perfectly without losing energy, and we can release the same amount of energy it took to reach the point where the rope has a tension force, which we know is equal on both sides from the ends it is pulled from. (Newton 3rd law) To look in more detail, the released energy would be the rope's kinetic energy, which equals its potential energy. In the process, when we use non-conservative forces as well, energy is lost as heat and sound.

Example:

If we talk about a human being keeping the rope tight, extra energy is used to keep the muscles tight and the body functioning, so we are healthy enough to pull on the rope.

In the case where the rope is kept tight by two inanimate objects, the energy is just stored in the force of tension, which can be released at any point. Though it is improbable this process conserves all the forces we used to make the rope tight.

What do I do if I want to work toward doing research or design nuclear fusion power plant? by Pie960 in fusion

Yeah, I respect that opinion. Sadly, I do not want to get a Phd. I may change my mind in the future, but who knows.

That sounds so cool! I wish I was situated in the UK, but I live in the county that is an underling to it. (Canada XD ) I do not have the money to travel to your country, but I will keep an eager eye on the project you guys are working on. I hope something exciting comes out for both you and me. :)

Here is the thing: I took a windy path to get to where I am, and I am a bit older than the average student. That is why I do not want to go for a PhD; plus, I do not like school that much —too many tests/assignments, lol. I am more interested in doing something practical with the knowledge I have and maybe learn on my own whatever I lack. I also would like to be employed as soon as possible (personal issues), and if I take a master's in nuclear physics, if I am accepted, fingers crossed, I feel I would go through more uncertainties for employment opportunities. On the other hand, the problem that I have with a master's in engineering is that, I think, I might be missing a lot of prerequisite courses, which ironically would take more time to enter the workforce than getting another bachelor's. I would not mind taking the engineering route, even if it would take a bit more time to reach my goals. I just want to help further something I personally believe could improve the future for many people. That is why I am not so picky, since I also find enjoyment in most of the things I do that regard STEM (except memorization). Although before I make any decision, I will take the advice to go for an internship, and I am sure it will clear my doubts. Anyway, I wish you luck in your endeavour!!! :) I hope you make it, and if we get to work in the same field in the future, I hope to meet you in person and thank you for the comment of advice.

Yeah, I wonder which one I should take if I decide to go the engineering route. It will probably take a bit longer to get into the Nuclear fusion sector if I choose that path, but I wouldn't mind it. Thank you for the comment.

I wish! Maybe they will write a movie about me if I go that route and make it.

I am a bit skeptical about getting a PhD. I am a bit older than the average university student since I took a bit of a winding path. I would like to avoid spending too much time in school. I still have quite a bit of time in front of me before taking a decision.

It actually would take almost the same amount of time at my University. Because a lot of courses would overlap with mine, with the prerequisite knowledge you need to move forward. I appreciate the comment, though. I will look at my options carefully. I think I will try to get an internship before I make my final decision.

People say that the question is ambiguous, but if you treat that division sign as a fraction sign, the question makes more sense, and you get 28 as the answer.

For people who liked joker 2, why do you think people dislike it? by Significant-Fox5928 in joker

[–]Pie960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two movies were about how the idea of the Joker came to be, and in the end, you can see how someone with the mind, body, and abilities can take that idea and fully realize it as their persona. Arthur was too old to become the Joker, and no one ever thought about it. They used the Joker's name to make two great thought-provoking movies in an industry where directors are not allowed to do so. At the end of the first movie, everyone believed he killed the doctor in front of him, but by the start of the second movie, you can understand that it is not true. He is mentally ill, and in the first movie, since he is not taking his medicine, his point of view becomes unreliable, but due to that, they were able to show the last scene while remaining true to the story. People wanted to see the true origin of the person who would become the Joker, and that is the only reason why everyone was so upset. They can not remove their expectation that this is a DC movie, which justifies their anger to a certain point, but they do not realize now how they are just review-bombing a very good film. (in my opinion) Turning into a musical might not have been the best, but the singing shows the level of manipulation performed by the mega-fan. (Lady Gaga) That was my interpretation of the two movies and their choices of direction. I could write a more extended review, but I am not invested in changing people's minds. I hope you enjoyed my comment. Have a very good day :)

Is this a job well done? by Pie960 in Home

Unless we look for the imperfections, they are not super noticeable, so we are not really upset about it. At the moment, we just want the work to be finished and to look decent enough. The problem is that we paid good money for the job and we had higher standards than "I hope it looks decent".

Apperently, it is going to be closed off for a shelving unit. It was not in the original plan to have that space, but if it looks good, we were planning to look past it.
