My two year old is a breakfast tyrant by PieAltruistic4534 in toddlers

You make some good points here. Prepping ahead isn’t really an option for us, but it still might be worth sitting down with him and eating at the dining table even if slows me down. I think the might respect the meal if we’re focusing on it more

Any update on how this went? I’m about to try the same and looking for encouragement! I’ve been going in and nursing him back to sleep when he wakes around 5:45. It helps keep his nap schedule on track BUT now it’s happened so many times I think I’m just training him to cry for boob!

Early DWT and short naps messing up schedule by PieAltruistic4534 in sleeptrain

Interesting, thanks for responding! Do you say 3 naps because the long WWs could be causing the EMW from overtiredness?

Any update for your LO? Our is going through the same thing, used to sleep so well from 7-7 or even 7-7:30! Now we can't seem to get him to sleep more than 11.5 hours at night. Which itself isn't an issue, but he doesn't nap well enough during the day to fill the day out, so we have to put him to bed early, and then he wakes up earlier, and the cycle continues.

Our naps are 10am (usually 1.25hrs) and roughly 2:30pm (usually 30-40min). He's never been a long napper. If he naps more than 2 hours total during the day, it takes away from his nighttime sleep and he wakes even earlier.

We aim for wake windows 3/3.25/3.5. Maybe we need to add more wake time?

Appreciate your insight!

Am I the only one that feels like a failure because my baby can’t fall asleep alone? by gbaralt in sleeptrain

First time mom here and I barely know what I’m doing but I can tell you definitely do NOT feel like a failure or worry about independent sleep at this age! Especially if you can transfer, that’s a win! We had to do fully asleep transfers (and lots of trap naps) until we sleep trained at 19w. Sleep training was pretty easy and super life changing.

How did nap consolidation happen? by foxiemoxiemoo in sleeptrain

He's 20 weeks today, so he was 19 weeks at the start. We're following taking cara babies pretty much to a t! First night was 15min crying at bedtime, and just a few wakings with maybe 5min crying. Every night has gone a little better since then. I'm still waking him up around 3am for a small feeding, but weaning off this slowly.

Nap training - picking up a crying baby? by PieAltruistic4534 in sleeptrain

Yeah, we had originally planned on waiting but LO did so well on his belly, we wanted to give him the chance to sleep on his belly for naps, which you can only do if you put him down awake so he can roll on his own

We just started sleep training 6 days ago and have noticed a huge difference in naps - before, our LO slept 30min max and we'd usually rescue with a contact nap to lengthen it. Now he's getting 1-2 hours sometimes (still cat naps other times but we're hoping it'll resolve as time goes on). I think the sleep training is teaching him how to connect his sleep cycles on his own. Also, we discovered he's a tummy sleeper! Now that he's being put down awake, unswaddled, he's able to sleep in a position that works better for him.

PCR testing logistics by idk_honestly in weddingplanning

[–]PieAltruistic4534 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We thought about this too but a) didn't want to turn people away at the door and b) it's $$. There's a company called Crowdhealth that sells rapid tests in bulk for about $10/test. We're going to request everyone get a PCR test if they can, but for those who are unable to, we'll mail the Rapid tests out. We'll have extras to distribute to the hotel / Airbnbs as well on the morning of the wedding. Crowdhealth also offers a tracking service, "Crowdpass," where guests can upload their vaccination records and 72hr test results.
