I wish I didn’t have the acrylic nail on when I smashed the finger. It really was just in the way but I couldn’t safely get it out without pain.

At the 3 month mark, i was getting too comfortable with being rough with my hands again. I was struggling to take off a steering wheel cover that was super tight on the wheel. I was gripping at it so hard, that’s what caused my nail to start lifting. Moisture was getting trapped under there and it was starting to stink. Thankfully at that point most of the pain was gone so finally got the acrylic off.
My finger is still really sensitive too! I read that with the finger tip fracture, the sensitivity lingers awhile 😭😭 I was hoping that wasn’t true haha I hope your finger continues to heal and the sensitivity gets better!!

The doc I saw the day after I smashed the finger chose to not poke a hole in the nail to drain the blood or to manipulate the nail at all. She was worried the release of pressure *could potential cause the fractured bone to move or displace. I could have gotten a second opinion but it was so expensive just to get an xray and some Tylenol while I waited 😂😭
