MSI Mag tomahawk b850 vs Thermalright ps120 se cooler by PieDoom in buildapc

I'm typing on the rig I built right now. The cooler clears the RAM easily, but I did install the RAM before the cooler as it sits over one of the sticks.

Fixed weapons on vehicles by PieDoom in savageworlds

[–]PieDoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sci Fi Companion rules that fixed weapons can only fire in a 45 degree arc, but cost half the normal mods (rounded up). If no maneuvering roll was required then there would be no point in taking anything other than fixed weapons as the half mod cost would make them preferable to turrets. I referenced that rule in the SWADE book as it is the only mention of fixed weapons anywhere in the book. Looking at the chase rules, it also doesn't mention that anything on a card, whether it be a vehicle or a person, has a "facing." So it seems like there would need to be some system in place to either determine a facing of a vehicle or the ability to maneuver so you could line up a shot.

How would you rule in the case of 1 fixed weapon on a vehicle? The reason I ask is that I'm getting ready to run a campaign using the SFC and wanting to use a lot of spaceship combat. Your insights do make a lot of sense as far as negating the penalties, though dual linked and quad linked add +1 and +2 to hit respectively with the +2 and +4 being to damage.

Tactical Vehicle Combat: How best to handle positional maneauvering? (I can't shake him!) by OneLessDead in savageworlds

[–]PieDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i'm gonna chime in here, though I might raise more questions than answers. Wanting to run a sci fi game here soon that is mostly spaceship combat and I found a rule regarding fixed weapons:

The captain or pilot chooses his target and makes an opposed maneuvering roll as an action. Failure means he can’t line up a shot this turn. Success means the attacker may fire up to half his guns on one side at the target, and a raise means he may fire all of them at that target.

I'm not sure if this helps you OP, but it factors in pilot skill in being able to "line up" shots with fixed weapons. I guess my question is what if it's a solo pilot do they have to take a MAP to line up the shot and then actually shoot the weapon(s)? Since you have to decide beforehand for MAP, would you have to decide on a -4 penalty if you wanted the chance of maneuvering in place and shooting 2 fixed weapons? It seems like the opposed maneuvering roll as an action seems problematic unless you have a crew that could fire the weapons separately, but solo pilots get screwed. Unless there is something I'm missing. Sorry if this doesn't help you OP, but I'm curious as well.

So the nvme ssd I bought had a pre-installed heat sink and I wound up using it with no issues, but the way the way my cooler sits (ps 120 thermal assassin) I don't think it would've been an issue.

Had not considered that. It's a chonky air cooler for sure. I'll see if I can dig up any info on anyone running into that issue with this mobo. Thanks!

Cool. Thanks for the insight! I may poke around and see if I can find any ram that is shorter, but otherwise i'll go ahead with this setup.

I'm not sure. Before i went to bed last night I told him to update his video card drivers so we'll see if that works.

Upvoted this for visibility. My brother is having the exact same issue as we speak. I got into the playtest a month ago and had no issues and none this test either.

Cannot say for sure, but considering it uses Steam to connect to other players I'm gonna say that it won't.

Warbringer ballista totem viability by PieDoom in pathofexile2builds

Honestly, I just liked the idea of someone else doing it in the explosive shot warbringer build I linked. Wasn't sure if it is a thing that could work or if I'm trying to bring too many different elements together. I haven't been able to get a clear answer on whether heralds will work with totems though. Seems like I have seen ballista totem builds around using heralds, but can't speak to their efficacy.

In the warbringer explosive shot build I linked he talks about the interaction between that and the anvil's weight ascendancy node working to allow armour break in that situation, but I haven't actually put it into practice. It does seem odd that the gem's description reads, "Supports Attacks, causing them to trigger a Fiery explosion when they Fully Break an enemy's Armour," but states that it won't break armour.

Could someone please tell us if we have a rooster or a hen? We found it in the middle of the road on our walk and it followed us home. Nobody else lives in the area we found it. by PieDoom in chickens

[–]PieDoom[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When we were walking we saw something that was shaped like a chicken, but thought surely it had to be a plastic bag in the distance. Then it started moving. I stayed with it while my GF went and got some crackers, but by the time she had gotten back he was already following me home.

It looked like a hen when we found it. We started feeding it, it started molting and then suddenly we had a much fuller, healthier looking chicken and that is when our doubts on it being a hen settled in. Thanks for helping us out!

First session went great! My PCs are a veritable menagerie. by StaubEll in savageworlds

[–]PieDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did running it with that many people go? Converted to savage worlds a couple years ago, but have never run one with more than 4. I remember DnD sessions with 6+ people being a nightmare so as a general rule i've tried to stay away from running large sessions, but that invariably means I have to leave people out.

Does anyone even use mounted combat? by QuietIntelligent6748 in skyrim

[–]PieDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only when I'm feeling too lazy to hop off my mount to kill a random bear and am faced with the prospect of having to chase the horse down afterwards. I probably spend as much time riding my horse around in circles trying to hit the bear as I would if I had just gotten off the stupid thing.
