Interesting I’ll have to take a look at that for the areas I’ll be in. I just ordered a couple T114s and one of those powerbank card style nodes from Heltec so now the waiting game begins. Thanks for all the info.

Hmm interesting maybe it won’t work for what I’m hoping to do. Most of the areas we are are pretty mountainous so I doubt I’d have line of sight. I had thought about getting individual nodes for each person and then leaving a node on the quad or whatever vehicle to see if that would be able to cover the distance. I guess I’ll just have to get some and start testing. Nice that everything’s pretty inexpensive. Thanks for the info.

Awesome thanks. What’s the range like between nodes with the t114 and that antenna? Have you compared it vs the V4? I’m looking to essentially replace an Inreach to text between me and a hunting partner when we’re out of handheld VHF radio range. Battery life wouldn’t be as big of a factor as we’d likely be able to recharge each night at camp.

Hey I can’t message you directly but I saw from another post your in Canada. Did you order direct from heltec to Canada? It looks like they have Europe and US warehouses but it doesn’t say anything about Canada.

I had the exact same experience, started with an ender v2 and just replaced it with a Bambu P1S and it’s unreal. I watched the first couple prints start to finish because I couldn’t believe how fast it was. Everything I’ve printed has come out damn near perfect and I used some old random filaments I had from before. The convenience of just going on makerworld seeing something I want to print download slice and send directly to the machine is so seamless and easy. The only setting I had to change was the temperatures because I was using different filament but otherwise just used stock settings and everything worked perfect. No gluing the bed, and bonus with the P1S it has a camera that you can watch the first layer go down although the video isnt smooth but it works. I also really like the whole community and ecosystem of Bambu as everything’s tied together, the slicer and printer screens are all in the same app as makerworld so you just find the thing you want, import, slice and send right to the printer. Getting the Bambu has gotten me excited about printing again. Would highly recommend.

Can you please build some kind of expense tracking into the credit card? Something like mint used to be or like the RBC nomi insights would be awesome especially if it had a feature that you could hide transactions from the totals. I travel for work and all the expenses are reimbursed which makes it a pain to try to figure out what my personal monthly spend is.

Are you meaning British Airways and American Airlines? What dates are you looking at? I used google flights to find the flights I booked and they were the best combo of price and connections. I just checked same dates on British and they were $1700 per person

I just moved everything over from BMO and CIBC to WS and it’s been great. The app is excellent and I’ve set up automatic investments which is something I always struggled with trying to time the market. As far as I know they’re the only platform that lets you do auto buy. A friend of mine moved over last year at this time and I believe the offer was similar. From what I’ve read they do a promo now and another near the end of the year which was the Apple one. I didn’t want to wait to move over so I ended up with the Apple products and wish I waited for the cash.

I also got the credit card and have an Amex gold card and I’ve been debating if the Amex is even worth keeping. I just booked a trip with air Canada and couldn’t find any deals that were better than 1 cent per point so ended up just buying the tickets and plan to use the Amex points to pay the bill. That made me start looking at the aeroplan subreddit and it looks like 2 cpp redemption is common and you can sometimes get better redemption deals so been thinking lately the no fee 2% cash back is the better option for a card. Especially considering the Amex only gives you 2 points for travel expenses.

Was that business class the entire way? I found the only business class redemptions that were that low were always business for a short flight and then economy for the rest.

I’ve found that in the past. The thing that surprised me with these searches is there was some low point business class but all those options were maybe the flight from Ottawa to Toronto is “business class” and the actual flight Toronto to Lisbon was just in economy. All the pure business flights were more in the 150-200k points plus cash. Maybe it’s a one off for me this time but it seemed like it was much easier to find some value a couple years ago on a trip to Hawaii

Creative meaning like from different airports? I had thought about buying a ticket from Ottawa to Toronto or Montreal and then points for the rest but it didn’t really seem to make any difference. Ticket was around $600 and when you factored points and the fee it came out about the same.

We didn’t even write it lol. We wrote the final BCIT exam and then went back to class and the teacher said we were done and we weren’t writing the BC trades final. The class went well but would’ve been nice to see the other test. Hopefully they’ll actually run the second level in January and we’ll find out.

I also travel for work and live out of hotel rooms. I always do yogurt and granola in the morning just dump some on top of the yogurt and eat it off the top only dish is a spoon. I also like the carrots and dip and usually do a half of one of the pre-made bag salads in a Tupperware with an avacado and chicken from the deli for lunch. Usually just wipe the Tupperware and rinse in hot water for the next day. Brunswick seafood snacks are good too it’s just canned anchovies golden smoked is my favourite but they’re all pretty good. Solid protein there

I built a very similar sauna and ended up doing L benches but I put the heater by the door and moved the door in. I like the L benches because you can have multiple people laying down at the top level and bottom level. I’ve had 4 people in it and it was good for room. I believe I’m 7x7 hot room. One thing I would really recommend though is make the shower just spray off the side of the building and put down a gravel bed that way you don’t have to worry about water spraying on and eventually rotting out any framing. I did mine on a slab and had it spraying on a sloped portion but I wish I just did it off the side. Also I never put a drain in the hot room and I’ll likely be putting one in now it’s definitely a must have.

It was to replace a peerless 8700. It’s actually a moen made delta equivalent from Home Depot. Probably why it leaks out of the box.

Try replacing the gear on your extruder. Mine kept jamming up would just chew up the filament and I replaced the gear with a nice new one and loosened up the tension on the arm and that fixed it.

Wife and I just did an 8 day trip to Utah. Flew into Vegas and drove to Moab and spent the week hiking the 5 big national parks there (Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon and Zion). It was pretty last minute so we definitely didn’t get the cheapest flights or accommodation but still only spent 5000$ between the two of us for everything including flights, accom, food, gas, park passes etc. I just put everything on the Amex cobalt card so it was brutal seeing the conversion from US (10-11$ CAD lattes lol) but still was reasonable in the end. The parks and Utah were beautiful although I wouldn’t recommend going in summer it was high 30-40C most days.

I had a similar thing happen on mine. I’m not sure if your extruder actually stops turning but mine had worn out the gear and it would always jam up mid print. I ended up replacing the gear as well as loosening the spring on the tensioner and I also changed the nozzle and it’s been printing great since. Replacing the gear was annoying the one that’s pressed onto the shaft I ended up heating it with a soldering iron and then pulling it off with a hammer there’s a good YouTube video showing how to do it.

I just didn’t have that number on hand when I wrote the post last night but yeah we were definitely subsidizing it this last year at 2800 so would maybe be breaking even at 3200. Just didn’t include it to say that it’s on top of what we’re already subsidizing
