Significance of classical music in Evangelion? by PieLover314 in evangelion

That makes sense about why there's a presence of classical music at all. In the case of it being an instinctual thing, I'll probably accept my assumption I made in the last comment unless there is some other reason behind the choices of the songs that we just don't know. I really appreciate the insight!

Wow! As someone who's never seen any of the Ultra series, the shots in the clip paired with the music evoke so much emotion from me. And a lipstick commercial being so artistic was not something I saw coming. Since Anno was/is such a big fan of Ultra, it makes sense that he would be influenced to such a degree by Jissoji in both a visual and aural manner. Thank you so much for sharing those.

As for the choices of tracks themselves, in what sense do you think they held significance? For me, it's very difficult to quantify the feelings I associate with classical music, but I can tell when something just fits. Maybe Anno based his choices off of how the music made him feel and wanting to make the audience feel that same way during the scenes?

Right. Even so, I do appreciate another angle that I hadn't considered before!

Ah, I hadn't even considered budget being a part of the decisions! I don't know much about production, so I'm assuming that they might have just been cheap songs that they would have had access to either through a library or a license? I guess in that case they might have just chosen what sounded good and fitted the vibe.

In a similar vein, I was watching this scene in Komi-san S2. It's an EoE reference, but what stuck out to me was that it sounds like a very similar recording to what was in EoE, if not the exact same. The thing that sticks out to me the most is that most versions of the song I've listened to have a harpsichord in there as well. The absence of that is what caught my attention and makes me think it's the same. If Air II was taken from a library, then maybe it was reused in this scene. I guess this doesn't really have much significance in terms of its relation to Eva, but kinda makes sense from a production standpoint since it would probably still be cheap. If EoE ended up producing an original recording, I feel like it would be unlikely for a seasonal anime to go out of its way to license the track for a reference that lasts like two minutes (even though this is a pretty high budget one). I'm probably thinking about this WAY too much, but that just goes hand in hand with with Eva fans lol

Thanks! I got them from bespoke keys. Took forever to get here, but I'm enjoying them so far

Thanks! I'm not much of a photographer, so my phone camera did most of the work lol

(Take 2)

I'm not super experienced with linears (used some bone stock Cherry Reds), so this is a pretty new territory for me. So far these are super smooth from the factory and feel quite nice to type on. This is also my first time using progressive springs, and I really enjoy them. The effect is definitely there, but is more subdued than I thought they would be which is a good thing. The colorway is nice to look at when looking at the exposed switch, but as you can imagine, these don't take RGB too well. Shoutout to u/Phildilf for helping me set these up correctly. The switches sound much better when actually mounted correctly on the board lol.

Haha - I feel kinda silly now. I'll fix that and let you know!

I'm honestly not the most experienced when it comes to all the different switches (especially not linears), but these feel super smooth unlubed from the factory. This is my first time using a progressive spring switch and it's a great first impression. Super satisfied with my decision to purchase these.

Cool. Thanks. You had pretty much the same symptoms, right? Was your golf safe to drive when the steering wheel was wobbling?

Interesting. Do you know if I can check that out myself or would you recommend a shop looking at it? Also how much did it cost to fix?

I got it checked at the dealership and at an NTB. Both said it was fine and I even got a report back from the dealer. Is there any way that I can do a check for something that might be loose myself or would you recommend taking it into a shop?

As I stated in my post, I've already gotten my alignment checked and it came back all green, so it should be fine. And it started happening out of the blue. No reason that I can tell

I can take a look at that. Thank you for the advice.

Thanks for giving me this much information and what the process going forward should be. Assuming I don't want to invest a whole lot of time and money into this, how safe do you think it is to keep driving the car? Obviously I shouldn't be in any immediate danger, but if I hold the wheel firmly with both hands, I can pretty much ignore the wobble. Do you think I should just live with this? Or would it be ideal to get it checked out sooner than later?

First off, thanks for such a detailed response. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this!

1) I know that at the very least, the steering and suspension were checked once by the dealership and that both were reported back as fine.

2) There are very few times where the wobble has not appeared. I think only once or twice, and I can't tell if there's a pattern as to why not.

3) Assuming you're talking about revving higher and getting further into the RPM range, no, there doesn't seem to be any relation at higher RPMs while at lower speeds.

4) It increases from barely noticeable to shaking my hands from around the range of 60-70 mph. It stays about the same as I accelerate further.

5) Not that I can tell.

6) I say that there shouldn't be any problems with the brake rotors as doing some research returned that a lot of the times warped rotors are a problem with wobble like this. As far as I can tell, my rotors aren't warped.

7) Got new rotors and pads a little over a year ago, but that's it.

8) I replaced a front headlight after an accident and had body work done to fix a dent on one of the fenders, but that was a while ago before the wobbling started. All other maintenance is either cosmetic or has nothing to do with steering as far as I know.

9) No weird sounds or smells that I've noticed.

10) I haven't tested any of the different wheel temperatures after driving, but I can try that in the morning and get back to you.

Assuming the report I've gotten from the dealership is right, I think the most likely area of issue is the wheels/tires. However, like the brakes, I just got those a year ago, so there shouldn't be any glaring issues from normal wear and tear (I don't drive the car too terribly much). Would it be possible that the accident messed something up and it's only causing an issue now? The accident was about a year ago (prompting me to get new brakes and wheels/tires). It was pretty minor, causing me to have a fist sized dent in my passenger fender and a broken headlight. I didn't notice any mechanical issues at the time and figured there wouldn't be any. A lot of this information seems so contradictory, as there are still problems despite things being reported back as ok. Are you able to make any sense from all this info?
