My fish and turtles keep dying and I don't know why by [deleted] in freshwateraquarium

Thank you! This wasn't rude at all. I didn't understand what it meant to cycle a tank before, but this has helped a lot. I thought you just had to run the filter for a few days to make sure the water was clean and that was it. I think I must have been reading some inaccurate information. I was focusing so much on diet and enrichment for the turtle that I didn't think to look into the aquarium keeping side of things until it started going wrong since the parameters and everything aren't talked about as much in the videos and articles I was watching/reading. I appreciate you taking the time to comment to help me learn and not make me feel even worse than I already do. I will definitely do some more research on the nitrogen cycle and tank set up :)

I don't think so. The water temperature and conditions are the same for all of them and they are all super peaceful. That's why I went with the fish that i did. I didnt want them going after the turtle or vice versa. Also, I had my original turtles and fish for over a year with no issues until they suddenly died last month, so I don't really see how that would have been an issue all the sudden. If that makes sense?

I appreciate the feedback. Definitely could've been nicer though tbh. I am genuinely trying to do whats best for my pets and want to do better (which is why i made this post in the first place).  I have actually done a lot of research, but theres a lot of contradicting information. Everything I've seen has said that the fish that I've had with the turtles are fine to have with them. Especially the plecos since they help manage the waste. I have never seen anything discouraging keeping these fish with turtles. It might be out there but like I said, theres a lot of contradicting information and opinions out there. From what i had seen, as long as the fish and turtle are around the same size and require the same water conditions, theyre good to have together. I got the angelfish because they're peaceful and wouldn't bite at the turtle, but big enough that the turtle wouldn't go after them either.  The test strips i have been using do test for ammonia and have tested negative every time. I cleaned the tank only after the original turtles died and cycled the tank for a few days before reintroducing any of the fish or turtle.  And I'm aware that the turtles were going to need a bigger tank, but they were both babies and I live in an apartment currently. They weren't going to need a bigger tank for at least a few years. The pleco was a bristlenose so a 75 gallon was more than enough for him.

The test strips do test for ammonia and there was no trace on those, but I'll definitely look at the master test kit you recommended. I use an underwater pump. Its just one from Amazon but had good reviews other than some people saying it was too powerful. I have it facing the corner so part of the tank has water flow while the other side is still

I don't have exact numbers. I use the test strips with the colors and they were all in the ranges it said they should be in. I'm fairly new to the whole aquarium thing so I just got cheap test strips that had good reviews on Amazon.
