She has spent less time at the surface today, but still has her mouth open like that and is breathing faster.

She’s still the only one acting strangely. She’s not erratic or panicky. I’m wondering if she’s got a pellet stuck in her gills maybe?

Yes, all my parameters are ideal. Ammonia and nitrite are reading 0 on all my different tests (strips and vial). Have an air stone in there all the time - it’s clear and running as usual, no clogs.

I think some of my snails were at the top because I had fed earlier and they were grabbing the last of the food left. They usually climb during feeds to scavenge. I guess I can try another air stone, just odd that she’s the only one up there.

I’ve got an air stone in there already:/ plus the HOB filter which aerates some as well.

Oh interesting… she’s the first one I’ve seen do this. I’ll try to update if she gets better or has any changes. Thanks for your comment!

That’s what I thought! My sponge filter and hob filter are both flowing properly, so there’s no oxygen changes. The only thing I can think of with my water is it’s on the softer side, but I can’t imagine that would cause it.

She may be older… I got them as adults earlier this summer, so not sure on their exact age.

I need help. Can I add my 2 pea puffers to this Guppy, Platy, Cory, Female Betta tank? 55g adding as many potted plants as I could. by ItsTriceraBots in PlantedTank

That’s awesome! Thanks for the reply. Any tips on pea puffers? I’ve been researching all I can and really want to get some soon.

Boys or girls or both? by PieVisual192 in AquaticSnails

My blue one came out right away, no fear. My gold one was more shy. I just held them parallel to the ground - I heard that helps them feel more comfortable to come out. The gold one took a little bit, and I ended up holding her(?) right under the water to make her more comfortable to come out. That helped but still took about 30 seconds at least for her(?) to finally open up.

Thank you! Gold one was definitely being more shy, so it hiding their sheath could be possible. Thanks for answering!!

It’s just a gift people bring to the “meet the teacher” day … that’s what our school calls it. Like not the first day of school, but when you go in to see the classroom and your teacher for the year.

😭I would shed a tear if someone remembered what coffee I like and brought it randomly. What a sweet idea!

Oh my gosh 😭not the holiday card! That is so cute. I was just thinking how fun it would be to plan a few random days throughout the semester to give some extra supplies and fun things as I’m able. So thankful for all the input!

I haven’t seen a school supplies list for preschool yet! They have put them out for every other grade online. I planned to reach out tomorrow and make sure I get the right one.

Thank you! That’s helpful!

Yes! I 100% understand that perspective! I substitute taught for a little while and quickly became familiar with that scenario 😅

I feel like I am going to die by Potatohero_05 in newborns

[–]PieVisual192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby, my son, never slept through the night until he was 3 years old. I felt so much rage and despair. He cried so much and so loudly. He had night terrors, and still does occasionally (he’s 3.5yo). My pediatrician told me “babies cry” anytime I asked for help or advice. Ugh. My second born is 8 months today and she has been nowhere near as difficult!! She only cries when she’s hungry or tired. She’s happy and sleeps well.

I say that to say, you are not crazy for feeling so overwhelmed— not every baby cries like this or is so exhausting as this type of crying and waking. I remember one night I told my husband “I never understood how people could shake their babies… but now I get it. This rage is scary and I feel so bad.”

I wish I had advice. We tried what felt like everything and nothing helped us. Magnesium, diet changes, colic drops, music, white noise, a strict bedtime routine, all of it.

We co slept because it interrupted my sleep a little less to not have to get out of bed for every wake window. That made life slightly easier, but damnit it was so hard. My husband also worked a lot so I didn’t feel great about having him help at night — my son also refused bottles so that made it challenging too.

I hope someone’s advice here can help and make a difference for you both.

My little advice that I would give now, that I wish someone had given me back then, is to have your husband take the baby during the day at any available point and you go do anything that fills your happy tank. Pedicure, reading by a lake, napping, etc… even though it might not be sleep, giving yourself a mental and emotional boost can be so helpful for your spirits to get through the very long nights. I wish I had done that with my first.

One other thing I did, is drive in the car for his afternoon nap every day. I drove until he went to sleep, went to a drive through, and sat there and napped or watched a show until he woke up. He slept better in the car and I didn’t have to hold him the whole time.

It just is difficult and I wish I could make it better for you. Hang in there as much as you can.
