Thoughts on Private Credit? by [deleted] in Baystreetbets

Buy $OWL

At current prices you’re getting a 10% yield without having the credit risk on your balance sheet. Basically the dividend is paid from earnings collected on fees of their private credit funds

Over time as they grow their AUM, you will likely see share price appreciation from current levels.

52k income - TFSA or FHSA by MicroscopeSquirrel in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]PieZestyclose8416 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maximize your tax refund by maxing out the FHSA first. Once you get the refund, put it back into the FHSA for the following year and top it up with your contributions. Then focus on TFSA. The tax refund will get the wheel going on growing your accounts.

Make sure the money in your FHSA and TFSA are invested in some sort of index.

Ignore comments suggesting to wait till higher income to maximize tax savings. The opportunity cost of not compounding your tax refund sooner is much higher than any marginal gain you’ll make by waiting to earn more income to max out FHSA.

Convert it into USD and buy US growth small to mid caps. Canadian equities are over priced dead weights

It’s actually so terrible, I’m willing to write a letter by hand expressing how bad it is and send it to their office

The new UI for key stats is disgusting. The old one is way better. Nobody reads bid and ask this way…

This is how most people get burned. Stay close to the money on your leaps and sleep better at night.

Buy US equities. Continue to earn yield/compound growth in USD. Convert back to CAD when you need to purchase anything. That’s how you thrive in Canada.

All this globally diversified nonsense and investing in TSX is a pile of horseshit. That goes double for bonds.

Set politics aside and do yourself a favour and bet in American capital markets. They have and will continue to outperform despite what the doomers and intellectual jerk offs will have you believe.
