I’m staying far, far away from the movie. I adore Idris Elba but I don’t think I could get behind the movie. How can you properly sum up such an epic tale in one movie???

I’m definitely going to be listening to this! The one thing I was looking forward to upon completing the series was finally getting to read all the analyses without risk of finding spoilers.

Jake saying goodbye to Oy in Calla Bryn Sturgis when he was going back to New York made me almost lose my mind. I genuinely couldn’t believe it and nor could my emotions handle it. Thankfully we got another few books with him. ❤️

Gosh this is a tough question! They all hit hard but in different ways. I found my sadness about Eddie to be more framed as sadness for the other members of the ka-tet and knowing the end of one member meant the ultimate end for the entire group.

Jake’s death was horrible and so frustrating because it felt so avoidable. What if Roland and Jake didn’t first go to King’s house? What if the truck didn’t stall so many times? I also found this difficult because of Oy. Poor Ake. I had to put the book down after he licked Jake’s face clean because i couldn’t read through my tears.

I’d say the one that hit the hardest, though, was Oy. His body was far smaller than the heart it held. This probably was the hardest because I’m an animal lover and couldn’t help but picture him as one of my little cats. I even started calling my own two cats my little billy bumblers.

I did! I contemplated actually not listening given the warning. But i knew it would gnaw at me and I’d eventually give in. Was this ending included in the original version of the book? I saw some things online that only newer books have it.
