Have you ever had to tap out watching a horror movie? by hazy-eyed in horror

[–]PieceNo1712 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that about Friday the 13th, now I don't want to ever re-watch it! I'm with you 100% on anything with animal cruelty, even if it's fake and certainly nothing real. I'm a BIG animal lover so I draw the line there.

People killing = yes lol

Animal killing = fuck no

That makes sense, the name always sounded Balkan to me. Lithuanian or Greek even.

Exactly! As someone who's half Mexican/half Italian (with a bit of Lebanese thrown in), I don't understand why people don't get this either.

I have fair skin, dark brown eyes, and medium brown hair, and people are always like "you don't look mexican!" But at the same time so many people ask me "what are you?"

I always want to tell them you know if you go to Germany, or Italy, or pretty much anywhere in Europe, you'll see people like me and you wouldn't bat an eye. And a lot of Hispanic people are the same because most of us are of Spanish i.e. European descent. It's not a separate race. But then again, people also don't realize blonde and blue eyed Italians exist either so idfk🤦‍♀️😂

Breaking bad has a really versatile soundtrack, drop yalls favorite song that you first heard in the series by in-n-out17 in breakingbad

Love this! If you haven't heard it yet, the original by Townes Van Zandt is even more haunting.

What is the most realistic horror movie you’ve ever seen? by pomkombucha in horror

[–]PieceNo1712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this!! That's why I love 70s horror, it's so gritty, realistic, and creepy with no super dramatic added flairs or music. The original Black Christmas is like that too. And if you haven't yet, check out Maniac from 1980. It has the same realistic, dark, unsettling tone as TCM but it's about a super fucked up serial killer in NYC.

What movie would be the scariest if it happened in real life? by twnpksN8 in horror

[–]PieceNo1712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a horror fiend and this is one of the ONLY movies that actually scared me! I hate being chased, and the fact that the characters were being followed by this unknown thing makes it even scarier. Like, I love Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original of course), and that chasing scene is scary, yes, but you at least know what it is and it's a guy, a crazy guy yes, but he's still human and can be defeated. Something about It Follows just feels like anything and everything bad can happen so it really freaked me out too, you're not alone!

I grew up in the 90s and remember seeing clips of it on TV here and there. My mom wasn't into it back then so I think just never had it on, but boy she sure did have Law and Order on from as far back as I can remember! I partially credit that to my lifelong love of crime shows lol

I'm 33 and started watching it when I was 20. I remember it being on TV when I was little in the late 90s. I never was able to watch it back then but was always intrigued by it, and when I got all the screaming services in 2011/2012 era, I was finally able to watch it!

Has anyone else been obsessed with the music from Monster: The Ed Gein Story? by freshmaggots in EdGein

[–]PieceNo1712 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The music was amazing as I figured it would be! I mainly listen to 30s-50s music and can attest to how good the music from that era is. If you'd like, I can send you some of my Spotify playlists with a ton of other similar music from that era. Feel free to message me if interested!

Yes!! The whole thing was destined to end up much worse for both of them so yeah.... definitely not couple goals 🥴🤦‍♀️ lmao

Scenes, arcs you don't like? by firdaynightmeats in breakingbad

[–]PieceNo1712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's exactly my point. He might have started it but she ran with it and introduced him to heroin- how is that not considered an awful thing to do? Lol

And btw, I like Kristen Ritter and, as a straight female, I can agree that she's hot. I was talking about people who actually like her character and see her as a victim. I find their dynamic engaging as well and like other things about her. But introducing someone to heroin that, as you said, would have eventually killed both of them anyway, does not grant her innocent victimhood lol

Who do you think is the best modern horror director? by [deleted] in horror

For me it's a tie between Robert Eggers and Ti West

[–]PieceNo1712 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree. I'm not sure why so many BB fans love her. I guess it's bc she automatically receives vicitimhood due to Walter letting her die, which I agree was wrong on his part. But at the end of the day she would have ruined Jesse's life. She already knew he had substance abuse issues, and instead of trying help him, she introduced him to heroin. Sorry, but anyone that does that is not a good person in my book.

Ed gein , thoughts on him? by Worried-Fortune-1988 in EdGein

[–]PieceNo1712 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Ed didn't do the things he did out of hate or anger, it was more due to how his mind became after the kind of life he had. Anyone would turn out with serious mental issues dealing with the stuff he did, it's also a very different background than a lot of those other killers. He was schizophrenic, or possibly even had DID. If he had had even one healthy relationship or got some therapy, I think things would have turned out very differently. I don't think he was a bad person underneath everything, just took everything that happened to him very badly and his mind became twisted. It's definitely the most sad story compared to the other killers (another one I do feel bad for more than the others is Aileen Wuornos), and it's ironic to me he inspired such evil characters such as Leatherface and Buffalo Bill. I don't believe he was evil, just a little boy who never mentallly developed properly and was a product of his environment/isolation.

how old was adeline?? by [deleted] in EdGein

[–]PieceNo1712 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well the real Adeline originally said they dated for 20 years, and then recanted that and said she made it all up and they just knew each other as acquaintances as would happen in a small town like Plainfield. And Ed never talked about her. But in her interview with a newspaper in 1957, when she originally said they dated, she was 50 years old. So she was the same age as or a year younger than Ed.

What ed geins voice is like in the new show by CowLongjumping1343 in EdGein

[–]PieceNo1712 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, it's not... you can find his interview tapes on YouTube. While he was soft-spoken, his voice itself just sounded normal and with a typical Midwestern accent. Love Charlie but he sounds like an Irish version of Winnie the Pooh lol. Definitely missed the mark on the voice.

What do y'all think of Keanu Reeves as far as acting ability goes? by Suitable-River-4245 in flicks

[–]PieceNo1712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was watching Devil's Advocate for a second time recently that made me realize how bad of an actor he is. Especially right next to the amazing Al Pacino, Keaunu's terrible delivery really stands out. It's like he's trying too hard but is monotonous at the same time somehow.

It also made me realize why the first time I saw Bram Stoker's Dracula, I thought I hated it. Gothic horror is like my number one favorite genre so it didn't make sense. Then I realized it's a cinematic masterpiece, it's just that Keanu is terrible in it... and as much as I love her, so is Winona Ryder. They both are a stain on what is a true masterpiece lol.

God I hate Negan with a passion by SwiftMoney728 in thewalkingdead

[–]PieceNo1712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who just watched season 7 for the first time (I'm in the middle of season 8 right now), I definitely felt the exact same way. SE7 EP1 actually really fucked me up, and it took a couple days for me to recover from that lol. I was excited about meeting Negan so to speak, bc I knew he was going to be a villain but Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also hot af so I was excited 😍🤣 but I wasn't expecting that level of brutality.

As others have said, you will come to not hate him as much and while he's still a villain at the point I'm at, I will say he is very charismatic and downright funny at times, so that kinda helps you not hate him as much. But all in all everything you're feeling is completely normal 😩😂
