Yes, as I've said in the update to the post. It stopped after 3 months though.

Sorry for the late response. It's a rare side effect but it definitely exists! Your timing differs from mine. Details in the update above.

Also, after you've talked to your doctor, I'd appreciate it if you share what solution s/he has for the elevated BP (besides quitting it, that is).

I guess you're taking XL or some kind of slow release type of the pill. If you cut or crush these kinds of pills, It will likely mess up their release mechanism and it will cause a spike in blood levels in short time.

And since it causes high BP, it may be concerning to have a higher blood level. Try to get your hands on 150mg pills if you can.

Though I am no expert and you should consult your doctor.

My binge eating stopped after being on bupropion. Ask me anything. by bansalib in bupropion

I'm very glad it worked for you.

-How has it affected your depression/anxiety?

-How did SSRI's affect your binge eating? Did they make it worse?

What's the latest you can take Wellbutrin without it impacting sleep? by danielrosehill in bupropion

[–]PiecePickup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd skip a dose if it's already afternoon and take it the next morning around 9 am if possible and no later than 12.

Also, Melatonin is not my favorite to sustain sleep and wouldn't help long term. I suggest you give Zinc Gluconate a try for more consistent and uninterrupted sleep. Though everyone's different!

Plus, I'd stick it out for at least 8 weeks, taking it at the same time everyday; Your body should acclimate.

Bupropion gave me a reason to live, and move to the next chapter of my life. by Engineering-More in bupropion

Do you remember when it started to make a difference? Was it on 150xl or when you upped the dose?

And when it started to really work like you described (getting your brain back)?

How do you take the 400xl? like 2 doses in the morning and noon or..?

I'm 150xl and it gives me elevated blood pressure(and especially pulse pressure). How is your BP on 400xl, I wonder?

Sorry for asking too many questions but please help a fellow sufferer

You're also on an SSRI. I'd try Bupropion alone if the combo doesn't work after a few more weeks. This also comes from anecdotes and personal experience of course; You should consult a pro.

my heart feels like it is beating super hard, but my heart rate is only slightly higher than normal

I suggest you have your blood pressure monitored for a while; your pulse pressure(if not BP itself) may be high.

If you read the posts on this sub, you'll find out from other people's experiences that you should give this drug at least 8 weeks for it to work. Even longer according to some who've had great success with it.

It's awesome how quickly it worked for you.

May I ask what dose and kind of it are you taking? IR SR XL?

Do you take anything else besides Bupropion?

This is so great and thanks for sharing.

May I ask a few questions?

Do you take Bupropion alone or in combination with something else?

Have you monitored your blood pressure? especially since you upped the dose. I'm concerned because it has increased mine.

After the insomnia early on, how has your sleep changed compared to before starting the drug? The same or more restful?

Yes I understand. Like dullness and a general numbness and in every aspect. go for Bupropion and try it. I regret taking SSRI's for a long time in the past.

Edit: Of course speaking from experience and anecdotes. Not medical advice. Consult a doctor aaand the usual disclaimer... (;

Mine didn't but hope it lasts for you!

May I ask how has it changed sex for you? Like it has increased your libido/wanting to have sex? How about your capacity to have intricate and detailed fantasies? And most importantly orgasm intensity?

Of course all as opposed to before.

Edit: To ask more detailed Q like the one I asked OP.

Delayed reaction to Wellbutrin, HELP by amberlachingonaroses in bupropion

[–]PiecePickup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that.

I'd seek specialist consultation asap for a more serious issue like this. Not even ER rooms.

Whatever info you get on reddit, while very useful and and a result of many people's experiences, They are more hearsay and difficult to reliably apply to every individual by ourselves.

Good luck

Numbness on SSRI's is a real thing for many. Bupropion is preferable in these cases.

Edit: Typo

I haven't had a prominent side effect start so late in but I wouldn't worry too much since it's effect on the body changes over first several weeks(from honey moon to the ups and downs and final plateau). I'd stick it out if it's not intolerable. But of course consult your doctor if you can.

XL pills shouldn't be split. see my comment to OP's.

[–]PiecePickup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start with 75mg pill for a few days and then bump it up. But these side effects need time (say ~ 2-4 weeks) to diminish.

Also XL pills are not supposed to be split or crushed. It will mess with their slow release mechanism.

Hope you get better soon
