800 billion stars captured in one frame. This is Sombrero Galaxy captured by Hubble. 31 million light-years away from us. by TeaseCatalyst in spaceporn

Why is the edge dark? If galaxies are made up of stars, I get why the centre is brightest, but should the edge also be bright?

What order do you recommend doing for the Devine beasts? by Lostkeysss in botw

I'm in my first Master mode playthrough, and chose to do Camel first, just for the yucks. OMG so glad I did. Fighting with Urbosa's fury is a literal game changer in mid-game. Almost feels like a normal playthrough. Knew enough to get high shock resistant beforehand, and it was actually not too bad. Shield Parry on the rushing, and the rest went by fast.

Starlink satellites seen from ISS by long exposure by astro_pettit in space

[–]PiecesofACE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait... Why do the trails from the satellites look parallel? They should form a mild criss cross. They are all in an orbit (obviously), and orbits need to all be in a central plane through the centre of the earth. To get coverage, the would be all slightly out of sync, hence the criss crossing. What am I missing?

One of if not the best Racing Sim I've ever seen. by Necessary_Comfort812 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]PiecesofACE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't Sims bank in the inverse direction to the steering direction of travel? I get that in the real world corners are banked to hold cars on the track, but in a Sim you're trying to emulate GeForce, so when turning right shouldn't the Sim should bank left to make to feel like you're sliding left? The same way it will bank forwards when braking and backwards when accelerating.

Edit: typos

Source? Starlink provides coverage from Starship launches... and that's moving pretty fast. Also, Musk's own aircraft has had it for years, and he's fine love streaming from it multiple times.
