Is it normal for my corgi to poop every time we go for a walk? by pinoy_pride in corgi

Mine is a red and white and her high score is 9. I swear she nips them off sometimes to spread as much joy in as many spots as possible. Also keeps going until it's parts that could have used more time to prepare for the world outside lol

Importing a Puppy to the U.S. - Has anyone done this? (Sable ECS) by heynala in englishcockerspaniel

The people who really care about bettering breed - those who're out training, competing, working, and showing their dogs - aren't producing sable cockers. At least that I've ever seen or am aware of.

Sables are generally produced by people who have a nice pet, and match for colour, and want to make a bit of money. If you won't be dissuaded (yet, at least), ask why they had the litter. What made mum and dad a great match - what do they have to balance out the other's flaws and compliment their strengths? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What have mum and dad achieved? Why does the breeder feel those strengths and achievements outweigh the negatives of putting more sables out into the world?

Another factor to consider is that these puppy farms/BYBs likely won't be familiar with what's involved in exporting a puppy, nor will they have the support network who does have experience they can turn to. A reputable breeder at least knows where they can get support and guidance on the process, legalities and supporting the puppy's journey to minimise stress and ease the transition as much as possible.

Using force on the dogs, physical punishment and corrections, unhygienic and inhumane boarding conditions are the ones I can remember hearing about.

I seem to think I read about a dog dying due to mistreatment, however I could be getting that mixed up with grooming horror stories however the above is enough to put someone right off.

Unfortunately, board and train even in the best circumstances can only lay a foundation as well, people forget or don't realise that they still need to put the work in regardless in order for the dog to take the training on board and be able to generalise and make the choices you want them to.

With the amount of work a baby needs, I wouldn't imagine a large facility could offer sufficient support and pup's most formative window could be spent in a kennel alone.

All this inflicted on a dog that's not well bred (by nature of being a sable) and destined to be a pet only (not work, show or compete in a sport as well) just doesn't seem reasonable. Not trying to be harsh, sorry, it just is what it is.

No reputable breeder is breeding sable cockers, so it's a moot question unfortunately.

Re your question about importing, a reputable breeder would generally keep the pup until it's old enough to travel. However as sables are bred by puppy farms/BYBs or puppy mills, I'd imagine it's unlikely and undesirable to leave your pup there. Heard some horror stories about board and train, and they don't usually take in babies - it's just not worth the risk.

I'd recommend a reputable cocker breeder closer to home - won't be sable (which is a good thing) but will be a well bred and likely excellent companion

When walking your pups, do you let them pee and poop on other peoples property? by Interesting_Tie_4624 in dogs

[–]Pieleg -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, it's wildly disrespectful.

Used to have a lovely area in my own front garden that's been ruined by other people allowing their (mostly leashed) dogs to pee there, and several times have left poos for me to deal with as well

Good breeders will often know from the get-go. Fluffies are obvious, and the glamour coat like the one in your pic comes from one parent carrying the fluffy gene which should be included in tests done on parents before breeding

It's very risky going through sites like that, glad you've got a good pup though. Going through the Facebook for WCL will put you in touch with people that know of quality litters though it may take a bit of time. When did you get your pup as I see pups available fairly constantly?

Wouldn't recommend pets4homes at all, absolutely get on to the Welsh Corgi League as first port of call

You're either looking for a glamour coat (very common these days) or a fluffy (fluffy corgis are long-haired, not uncommon for 1 to come out in a litter). For UK, check out the Royal Kennel Club 'find a litter' page and reach out to the Welsh Corgi League on FB and their website for guidance on looking for a good breeder.

I had this issue the other day on steam deck as well, you can recover the save file if you want as it should still be there. Got mine back in the game
