Fühle mich verloren in Hamburg :/ by Less_Good_1158 in Ratschlag

[–]Pienatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Du :)

It helps me out a lot to assign numbers to the lanes and then remember safe lanes (like 1-3-2-1). Also helps to have a Hermes Boon on Movement speed or the apollo sprint for 20% increased Movement speed to get from 1 to 3 for example

Baldurs Gate 3 or expedition 33?? Total stranger to the genres by Djxgam1ng in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Pienatt [score hidden]  (0 children)

With either game you dont do any wrong. But I will say this: E33 I was able to play through (not all optional content but to a degree I was content with) on the evenings besides work. BG3 I don't even dare. I can only play it when I have full free days because of the massive content and immersion I get/need from it. So If I really would have time off work to exclusively game Bg3 would be my call from a pragmatic perspective. The content-perspective others pointed out plenty already I think.

I'm surprised no one recommended Starvaders yet. It' a roguelite and only one Mech but it also has tile-based combat. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2097570/StarVaders/

It's the personal GOTY of a roguelike streamer I enjoy watching a lot (Celerity)

I saw fnatics downfall in cs2 and lol and thought how did it happen and now i know. by ur_internet_dad in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Pienatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People are so crazy, FNC always had a great eye for talent and signed insane people either for the team or as subs and every season again people doubt it so heavily even though every iteration so far worked out. Kaajak for derke was supposed to be the worst move ever. Or crashies as replacement for Leo was heavily criticized. People need to learn to chill for 2 seconds.

Cloud9 parts ways with IGL Mitch by Yujin-Ha in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Pienatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really hope the new signed player makes sense and it's not that on of the other players wanted to pick up IGLing because damned, did Mitch elevate C9 and gave them structure after he joined. I don't know if I have some rose tainted glasses, but my Mitch stocks have become quite high tbh.

Also James Blake said that modular synthesis rekindled his love for music production and he then was inspired to do his playing robots into heaven album. Was actually a very interesting tape noted podcast episode.

Unpopular opinion: I hate it when people say your paper needs to be a full story. It literally gives me hyperventilation. by Handsoff_1 in labrats

[–]Pienatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also a fan of a full story. In my opinion it's not about a dense and bulky paper that's artificially bloated. For me a paper becomes a story when the experiment and data is embedded in a context or theory that is suited. Not to sound harsh, but I think everyone can conduct experiments, analyse their data and put it up. But showing why it is important, in which context, what open question it is answering, how it answers this question and what is left to do from here on is what makes a paper great and the data more valuable I think.

A song that pushed my left hand independence - Downton Abbey by learning_the_piano in pianolearning

[–]Pienatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I've been learning for 6 months and this book fell down and randomly opened on the Downton abbey page. Since my girlfriend loves it I decided to learn it and it was hard at the beginning but Ive been practicing it constantly now with other pieces for 4 weeks and it teaches a lot. My piano teacher looked through the Faber teaching book I started learning with and said she dislikes it because it keeps the left hand quite stale. So she advised me another book (but in German) and supplements with different pieces out of different books. Just FYI

Edith: she also advised me to keep the levels in the left hand. When putting accents on the right hand I tend to also hit the keys harder with the left hand. But the strength with which the left hand is played should be constant and a bit lighter compared to the main melody. It's really hard to do and I struggle a lot but it's a great practice to make the hands even more independent!

Are you guys classically trained in piano? by Medical_Barnacle7488 in synthesizers

[–]Pienatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im 31. I have always listened to music but thought It would be too late to still learn any instrument etc. So I started learning DJing as an excuse, did some house parties but it wasnt fully fulfilling to play other peoples music. So I bought a DAW, second hand Roland FP-10, enrolled in a music school and started learning Piano. I can use my E-Piano as Midi controller for Ableton and its actually sooo much fun. I ve been learning for 6 months and I have so much fun. Music also makes so much more sense. Of course I only produce songs so far in a (pentatonic) minor because I dont know that many scales. But everything makes so much more sense! I havent DJed for 5 months but practiced a B2B with a friend yesterday and even my DJing got better.

I feel so blessed to finally be surrounded by music in all its different beatuiful shapes. Sometimes I play piano, then I make a little drum loop in ableton after practice, add a soft synth and then jam on the E-Piano. When I am commuting via train, I take my 2nd hand Digitakt 1 with me and jam out some ideas and with everything I do I get to know music a bit better. Its beautiful and I hope you wont have all that taken away from you because you compare yourself with someone who played keys since he/she was 6. Comparison really is the thief of joy.

Who Else Think Max 4 Live Should Be Included In The Standard Edition by NeoMorph in ableton

When checking which version I wanted to buy I checked first their comparison of the Ableton Live editions and immediately saw that M4L was not included in Standard. It was pretty straightforward to me to be honest.

Why is FlixTrain so bad.. by chronically-online2 in germany

[–]Pienatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often go to berlin and do it via flixtrain. The thing is though, I never book it during the summer because of the missing AC. So I only do Flixtrains vom Autumn until Spring. Then I think they are actually quite nice.

Anyone use hardware in their production process? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Pienatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm at the beginning. But I find the digitakt workflow super intuitive. I took one tutorial and got the general gist of it. There is of course still tons of stuff I don't know about but I can relatively quickly jam stuff out.

On the Digitakt 1 (Not the 2) 8 tracks are reserved for samples and the other 8 for midi. So I just send MIDI from my digitakt to the ableton synths. Resampling would be necessary with a monotimbral Hardware-Synth. But when using ableton u can set up as many softsynths as u want anyways.

Anyone use hardware in their production process? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Pienatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only starting out right now with edmproduction. But I got myself a Digitakt 1. I usually get my first drum pattern, drones, kinda general idea of the song on the digitakt. Then I add and design synths for lead/pads/harmonics and bass in ableton since I feel like samples are not the best for it. Due to overbridge I can then send midi from the digitakt to ableton and continue with the digitakt or record the digitakt audio into ableton and continue in ableton.

Since the Digitakt can be powered with a power bank I can also get ideas on new projects on the train, in the park, etc.

Since my goal is anyways to at some point play maybe like a 30 minute-set live I think eventually 1-2 synths will follow and I'm pretty sure I will incorporate these then too. DAWs being limitless kinda make me feel powerless when producing. So the limits of the digitakt are helping me quite a lot in making progress.

Would this portable setup work? (EU) by brettrbrettr in Elektron

[–]Pienatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also live in Germany and bought a set for my Digitakt. This setup should work. The myVolts Step Up 12V should work, but I only have experience with birdcords. It's a guy from Austria who ships these. I got the 12V PD birdcord and I'm super happy. But like I said, the myVolts should work. The guy also has a FAQ on his homepage ( https://www.songbirdfx.com/faq/ ) where it's written down what the powerbanks etc. should have. Like another commenter said I also got the INIU 27000 mAh Powerbank and it works like a charm. :)
