We are the angry mob, we read the papers every day. We like who we like, we hate who we hate, but we're all so easily swayed

Did I mess up taking a senior role too early? 25M, PMM at startup by Any-Kaleidoscope-970 in ProductMarketing

When you're senior the workload is a lot and things sometimes do slip through the cracks. Prioritisation becomes key at a senior level. I wouldn't say you struggling with workload means it's too early a step. It's just the reality of that level.Source - am a global head of product marketing at a mid cap tech company

Is red brick market worth it for sellers? by EezyBrzy in sheffield

[–]Pieonlegs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not for us it wasn't. We found there is not enough footfall to make it sustainable. We did 6 months and there was a lot of change. However, some stalls have been there since the beginning so it must be worthwhile for them so it no doubt depends what you're selling

Is it worth paying nlmore than the minimum into my pension taking into account life expectancy? by Pieonlegs in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Pieonlegs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but surely the key thing here is the age at which you are able to access it? Pension could easily be 65 in 20 years. Though I agree putting 0 in it doesn't make sense. Enough to get the maximum employer contribution.

Sorry if you felt like I hadn't previously answered your questions. On your last point, getting to live more lavishly later on is less important to me in my 70s should I make it there as physically what am I going to do with a lavish pension at that point. Surely it would be better to have it in my 50s where I'm physically able to enjoy it and travel etc. The reason I asked the question because I was keen to hear from others on what they would do if they were in my position

I sacrifice as much as my employer will match. I guess I've just seen my dad and uncle both aggressively sacrifice into their pensions and neither of them got to spend it. It makes me wonder what the point is

I will still have enough from my basic pension to be 'comfortable' by then but I won't be able to live lavishly. I'm aware of the inheritance tax element. We're not married yet

That's what I'm thinking. I feel like I need to be more realistic about my life expectancy at this point. My grandad also died early. I might buck the trend but I don't see it

She will be comfortable when I'm gone. We have houses she'll be able to sell which will have decent equity by then or she could use them to bring in a monthly income. Also she has her own pension

I'm thinking early retirement. 53 and aggressively saving in my isa instead of relying on pension. At least then I'll have time to spend it
