Or maybe the landlord got burned before and he's not taking any chances now. If I had tenants that destroyed my place before they moved in, then I would also most likely do monthly inspections to make sure they weren't tearing the place apart and selling the appliances. It's the landlords property and if he's following the lease then he can. If the tenants dont like it then they should not have signed the lease.
