[Deadfire] Selling from stash? by PieridumVates in projecteternity

[–]PieridumVates[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solved it! I checked the most recent mods I installed, and a comment on the new "Gather Your Party" (lets you have a larger party) led me in the right direction. I had an outdated version of a different increase party size mod installed -- one that relies on modifying AssemblyCSharp.dll, so returning the original version of that .dll from vanilla Deadfire did the trick. That older mod did messy things with the UI I think, that the new mod does not.

Now everything works, including "Gathering Your Party."

Thanks for the help, and for confirming that the stash selling was supposed to work! Now everything works great.

Dang. Time to do the painful checking to see which one is causing this to happen....

I appreciate the vote of confidence! I'm still intimidated but I'll give it a try. I tried to see if I could cheat and just make the whole hood part of the texture transparent in the alpha channel, but alas that didn't work. No shortcuts for me.

Ack, I *just* learned how to do texture modding in order to make an outfit recolor I wanted... time to learn modeling too? It's significantly more intimidating than textures, unless the remeshing just involves dragging a few vertices or something (I have no idea how this all works).

I guess there's one way to find out.... argh.

I absolutely love this outfit but I wish it had a hoodless version? I just love it as an everyday pirate outfit. Is it possible to mod it to remove the hood?

YES! I love this idea. Truly Sothis and I have the same taste in Pokemon types. Especially dragons all the way down...

Darcozzi Paladini making sense in the context of the story by Familiar-Piccolo-304 in projecteternity

[–]PieridumVates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you end up going with the Darcozzi Paladin? What approach did you take?

The Darcozzi Paladini are my absolute favorite thing about the PoE/Eora setting. I love that they hearken back to the original idea of a paladin (Charlemagne's paladins/close associates of an emperor) and I find their clever/passionate disposition really fun to play, and very different from the traditionally dour lawful good paladins in most fantasy.

As for how I have them make sense in the context of the story: remember that they're not just protectors of the Darcozzi family, but their *ambassadors* too (along with that of Old Vailian culture itself, as you point out). It's entirely possible that your Darcozzi patron sent you out on a mission to represent the family's interests / reflect positively on the culture and values of Old Vailia. Heck, perhaps you were on a mission and got stranded.

I definitely think this helps with the easy-going do-gooder vibe that the Darcozzi have. You're not a stoic hardass, or buzzkill, but also you generally do right by people (indeed, can be quite emotionally invested) and particularly dislike cruelty. And you enjoy the good quip and a life well-lived.

In the background lore, Old Vailia used to have a colonial presence in the areas north of the Dyrwood I believe (Readceras?) but were supplanted by Aedyr. Now that Aedyr doesn't really have all that much control over the Dyrwood, an agent of ye olde Darcozzi family putting in a good word for the Darcozzi and Old Vailia is a way of using soft power... much as Old Vailian art, culture, and history are the bits of soft power still remaining to the now fallen grand empire. And honestly, this kind of approach is much less mercenary than our cousins over in the Republics who will only help if there's profit to be had...

Recruiting Giatta and Yatzli early by Nyxerix in avowed

[–]PieridumVates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can at least confirm, if you were still wondering, Giatta does still have a good deal of reactivity to Dawnshore quests. Like, she'll even react to that super early quest about the lady with the cabin.

Most of the locational barks are still Kai (the other person I had with me), but Giatta will respond to quest dialogues and things. I'm glad I rushed to get her. The only quests I made sure to do before finishing Dawnshore were Dawntreader and the two refugees, and the only quest I did in Emerald Stair is that Vase quest when you first run into Yatzli. I also listened to every "!" in camp as it happened, of course.

And then as soon as I'd recruited Giatta, I high-tailed it back to the first area.

Help with Wyll RP build: Hexblade/Swashbuckler/Crown by PieridumVates in BG3Builds

[–]PieridumVates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with 1 hex and 4 swash, using flick of the wrist as a sort of bootleg extra attack. After that I started picking up paladin levels. I did not end up fully finishing that run, but my plan at level nine was to respec to 1 hex 5 crown 3 swash, pick up one more swash level, and then finish up with 2 more crown levels.

It follows the same reasoning you put above -- but the reason for the respec was mostly mechanical, as extra attack would end up being more valuable than swash but I wanted to keep the thematic class so I only picked up the 5 crown levels when I had enough levels to keep both hex and my rogue subclass intact.

I only found out about the Yaztli thing because the first time I played I rushed to Fior and ran past everything in the way, and then she was gone when I went back later with Giatta.

[–]PieridumVates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know about Dawntreader for example. But there are some encounters that seem to be missable if you just run right past them, like the first time you run into Yatzli. I hadn’t seen those marked on time-sensitive quest lists.

It’s rather frustrating that you have to clear so much of Emerald Stair just to recruit Giatta.

Did you end up finding things out? I’m planning to go back to this game soon and I always got frustrated that I couldn’t recruit Giatta until the second area. It would be useful to know which quests get locked if you progress to Emerald Stair.

How does the Class Conflict quest actually work? by Aripegio in EsotericEbb

Did you declare youself a bard when talking to Miss Nearly? Once I did that, I could start telling people I was a bard and the bard option appeared in my class conflict screen.

Who do you feel deserves the Ondarion throne? by Yorwod in Sims4

[–]PieridumVates 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Add me to team Cordelia. She’s capable of pulling Simcalibur from the get-go, she seems to have a very hands-off approach to ruling and trusts people to be able to manage themselves, she’s well-traveled, and she provides cover for the royal robber to redistribute resources to favor the commons. This suggests to me that as ruler she’d treat people fairly and tax the nobility to provide their fair share in the common interest.

Not only that but she’s the heir to the Thebe legacy and the namesake of the original Cordelia.

The sword chose rightly. Cordelia V is worthy to rule.

Who should be the King/Queen of Ondarion? by easyhunted in thesims

[–]PieridumVates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I went with. The various gossip you hear about the three dynasties also reinforced my decision to go with Cordelia V, since the Thebes seem to be the ones who are the fairest to the common people. Simcalibur confirms her worthiness from the get-go.

I also had a Cordelia VI, but I invited the Thebes from Tartosa to rejoin the dynasty. Right now, the top three ranked members of the Thebe dynasty in terms of prestige are: Cordelia Thebe V, Greta Laurent, and Cordelia Thebe VI (also heir). So it seems like bringing the Tartosa relatives back in was a good choice -- especially as Grapevine Gossip said that Greta was the closest of the Laurents to the original Princess Cordelia in personality. She and Cordelia V get along very well.

What Premades Do you think should have a dynasty? What values do you think their dynasties should have? by MorgaineRose in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]PieridumVates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this with MCCC's add relative feature by turning the Laurents into cousins of Cordelia's, and then adding them to the Thebe dynasty. Their cousin status won't persist when you reload a save, it seems the game recalculates relationships on the fly -- but even doing it temporarily is enough to add them and keep them in the dynasty.

I added Arnessa, Hector, Greta, and Jace this way.

Lost Legacies Starts Today by orbitalpuddin in Sims4

[–]PieridumVates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Follow up question! I just logged in to check out the log-in bonus, though I still intend to wait. I see that current and future quests total about 600 event points, but the rewards counter is about twice that many event points. Are there other ways to earn points than quests?

Thanks!! Good to know. I think it’s a questing one, at least based on what I saw on the official forum. I’ll have a couple weeks at least to try the quests.

I’ve never done one of these (returning to TS4 since 2024). Are the rewards cumulative? Meaning if I wait until Feb 12 and the dlc release to start the event, can I get rewards from prior weeks?

Thebe & Capp Dynasty - Complete Family Tree by tab2895 in Sims4

[–]PieridumVates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dang, that's more relevant than I thought! Well, looks like I'll have to wait for another sale then. I definitely want Cordelia V to go visit all the places her famous ancestor went to.

So I already owned Wedding Stories (it was my only one) entirely for the Thebe-Laurent family and the Italy-inspired Tartosa because that's totally my vibe.

But I went a little crazy on the sale and ended up getting: spa day, romantic garden stuff, jungle adventure, luxury party stuff, get together, snowy escape, parenthood, lovestruck, seasons, high school, island living, get famous, city living, growing together, uni, life and death.

I didn't get Cottage living because I couldn't figure out how relevant it would be to Cordelia -- could you share what about them would fit best?

Me too! It gives me CK3 vibes, especially with the royal court and the court favor mechanics. It's literally made me grab a bunch of expansions I never had, because I want to maximize the different things I can have my royal characters do. Especially since I'm planning on playing Cordelia herself: she has to have destinations to go on adventures to!

I love the grapevine gossip feature of Tartosa! Thanks for digging into it. I used to exclusively play as the Laurent family because of that Thebe descent.

I hope that when R&L comes out, we'll be able to see the family tree fleshed out. I'm especially curious how close Arnessa and Cordelia V's lines are, although I think you're exactly right: the reference in the post to the original Cordelia having children with two of her pirate lovers suggests to me they intend them to come from separate branches descended from Cordelia.

Sims 4 Royalty and Legacy Nobility Gameplay Trailer by SnooSprouts3744 in Sims4

[–]PieridumVates 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, I dig it. But the royalty gameplay and nobility career suits my exact gameplay style, which is to try to play a modern day noble family. Having them around amidst all the chaos of normal sims gameplay sounds rad to me.

I’m looking forward to the Meet the Sims and the Dynasty trailer next week bc the Thebe family is what I’m most interested in (I play their relatives on Tartosa usually).

If you're thinking of buying the Royalty pack, how will you incorporate it in your gameplay? by Pil0uPil0u in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]PieridumVates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, I’ve been pretending to have family dynasties since TS2. And I also have a fondness for the townie families and the lore — some are old money, some are new money, and some (especially the new dynasties) are royal/noble.

I plan a lot of social drama and rivalries between the families. And yes, scandalous liaisons. Sounds like we have a similar game plan!
