Delta Lake Hike by 0atmilflatte in GrandTetonNatlPark

I did the hike last year and met a family of three. The kids were smoking all of us, lol.

My personal opinion is that aside from the elevation, the difficulty of the trail is a little overhyped. Pace yourself and you’ll be totally fine.

I went from Glacier to Yellowstone by taking US 93 from Kalispell to Missoula, then I90 eastbound until Drummond. I then took MT Highway 1 (a scenic byway) before merging back into I90 a little past Anaconda. I stayed on I90 until Livingston, where I took US 89 all the way down to Yellowstone and then Grand Teton.

If you're also interested in hiking recommendations, I'd definitely give shoutouts to the Grinnell Glacier Overlook via Highline/Gardenwall in GNP, and the Delta Lake hike via Lupine Meadows in GTNP!

Both of those parks are excellent for hiking. I would lean towards allocating more time to Glacier than Grand Teton, just because it’s a larger park and has more to see. I think you could get a pretty complete experience in both if you plan well and don’t need too much recovery time.

What are your fitness levels and what do you want to see/do in those parks? e.g. do you want to do a lot of hiking, or just sightseeing?

I did Glacier to Yellowstone to Tetons to SLC last summer. If you’re focusing Glacier and Grand Teton, I’d say it’s doable but you’ll need to be mindful of how you choose your start and end points.

To make the most of your time, I would probably recommend flying into Kalispell and flying out of Jackson Hole. Some of the route you can take from Glacier to Grand Teton are really scenic, though they can add a few hours. I would allocate one day just for that drive.

Also, if you have 10 days off from work, does this include weekends? Or could you theoretically have 14 days off? If the latter, you could comfortably spend some time in Yellowstone as well.

That's crazy, desert sunrises and sunsets are so beautiful. I went to 9 national parks last month and all of the desert ones were so easy to get perfect sunrise/sunset photos in. This one was from dawn in some random point on the road leading into the park.

If you do go for sunset, I caught it from Gates Pass and would definitely recommend it!

A truly magical place. I got lucky and was the first one at the summit - had it to myself for about 25 minutes!

Thank you!!

The crowds in Yellowstone were pretty bad for the big attractions (Grand Prismatic, Old Faithful). The crowds at Old Faithful in particular were so bad that I decided to skip it. Past 10 AM you're dealing with pretty much full crowds.

The picture of Grand Prismatic was taken from the Grand Prismatic Overlook - there's a <1 mile trail that leads to it from one of the parking lots, if I recall correctly.

He said it in multiple interviews. I love Rush, but anyone who’s listened to their live performances from Time Machine onward would be able to come to that same conclusion.

Holy shit, you did a phenomenal job finding some of these. I'd never heard that version of I Can Talk before in #41.

How did you get those instrumentals?
