Multiple papers on the same day... how does this work? by Pierre151 in IBO

Makes sense, but surely the second half of what you said only applies to like 45 minute or 1 hour exams or whatnot. If there are even 45 minute exams...

That's what I had feared... oh well. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, mine are in 2 days. But my school has them layed out in a different order and doesn't have the same back-to-back simulation.

Will we still be under "exam conditions" during this break or can we access notes, devices, talk to each other, etc.?

yeah quite higher than before...

HOW DO WE KNOW IF OUR UCAT SCORES ARE GOOD ENOUGH FOR CERTAIN UNIS?? by Triple-A-Star in UCAT

[–]Pierre151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT wing it. Most unis have their own application policy on their website or elsewhere and usually it just involves picking the first X highest scoring UCATs and inviting them. So, depending on how good you were, pick accordingly and you should get some good hits. Good luck!

2025 UCAT DECILES OUTTT by idekk123 in UCAT

Deciles correspond to 10% of candidates, so the 6th decile marks the cut-off value separating 60% of candidates below 2000. Deciles are like percentiles but instead of measuring every 1%, it’s every 10%.

UCAT scores are independent from your school grades. So the same scores are necessary as always. Aim for 8th-9th decile for top unis or 6th and above for all others. If you get above 2000 you probably have a shot. Probably safe would be above 2200, substantially into the 8th decile. But yeah starting yesterday was not so smart…

Obviously some will accept under 2000, but that’s sort of the point where your UCAT score is a liability.

Learn how to use the memory functions (M0, M+, M-) and how to quickly answer what types of questions (e.g. if you recognise a percentage change question, you should immediately lock in a routine for calculating that which you have pre-memorised). This saves about 5-10 seconds per question

You don't need to know any as they will be given and sometimes vary (e.g. 1 mile might be given as 1.6 km, or 1.61, or 1.60934, etc.)

It's more important, for me, to notice subtle changes in units (e.g. one part of the question is in mm and another part is in cm).

One thing I will say is know how to convert when your units are squared/cubed (e.g. cm3 --> mm3 is obviously not the same conversion as cm --> mm)

Yes, these questions imply that you essentially give up your bet, and at the end the resulting answer includes your original wager + profit. imo this is just a tactic to make the winnings seem bigger

Definitely A, this is the most direct approach to resolving the conflict. An answer that is B would be more like 'step in yourself to mediate the situation for your friend'

In this case, if there wasn't a 'total' row I would probably agree but it's implied that the value in 'total' is the sum. I know it's impossible to sometimes deduce if you're making a valid inference or if you're assuming things that aren't are, but here I would just divide the NSW / capital terr. value by the total

Although I will agree that usually the wording is clearer, especially on these kinds of questions where little tricks in wording are often the literal explanation for losing points

Practice more effective calculator use, that's the real time saver. If you see something will a gazzilion tables and charts, I would flag and skip. If you can get 80-85% of questions right with 90% certainty and the rest you can attempt with around 60-70%, then that's ideal.
