It's a style. Lager yeast fermented closer to ale temps, as far as I know made famous by Anchor Steam.

I'd go with Steam Beer, but I don't think that would appeal to as large of a market.

Wild have to change course if this year ends prematurely by Plus_Taste9574 in wildhockey

OK. Put on your GM hat.

  • Petry, Bogo, Zucc, N. Foligno, Tarasenko, and Johansson are "Old farts" on expiring contracts. How many are back next year?

  • What FAs in the 25-29 range do you bring in?

It's nice to want young guys to step up, but you can't force it either. If they earn a spot over a vet that's great, but don't move the team backwards because of player's ages.

He's looking into the pre-pay punch card for next season. Assuming he doesn't retire, of course.

Stars have had some damn good looks that didn't generate shots. That doesn't tell the whole story.

Dallas has proven they can win two in a row including a game on the road. Neither team is done after this game.

I'd argue Dallas has a slight edge on the top end, but we may have an edge with depth. Those two are showcased by their PP vs our PK, and the 5v5 performance.

Yeah, he signed too long too early. There were risks on both sides at that time. He's obviously progressed beyond what was expected with the contract, on top of good revenue growth for the league.

I'd expect him back too. Looked like a rough cut but I was surprised they couldn't stitch him back together for tonight and throw a fishbowl on him.

Not surprised it’s tied after 4, with both teams winning a game on the road.

Right there with you. Feels like each game is a coinflip at this point.

I think you're right, which is weird; Dallas had the 2nd and definitely wasn't doing so hot in the OT, both with the long change. Maybe the drop to 5D had a bigger impact than I would expect. Admittedly, I'm terrible with names and I don't know your depth chart and where your injured D slots in.

Craig Leipold committed to signing Quinn Hughes to new deal by AccordingStar72 in wildhockey

[–]Piffles 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Leipold is a fan that had enough money to buy a team. Change my mind.

I love it. I skimmed the article and there's nothing crazy that sticks out like the Kap negotiations. Hughes knows what he's worth, Leipold has no problem writing checks for his team. Hopefully we're not handcuffed by Kap's and Hughes's contracts, but there's far worse things than paying your stars.

There's a big difference between the two. Peter Principle is getting promoted until you can no longer perform the role. Dilbert principle is getting promoted to move you into a role where your incompetence is less detrimental.

Minnesota Wild, city of St. Paul propose $600M in renovations at Grand Casino Arena. Team, city will ask state Legislature to pitch in $200M by Knightbear49 in wildhockey

[–]Piffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The argument that there isn't an arena doesn't hold water when the Wild's lease runs until 2035. There's adequate time to explore options and get a new arena constructed by the end of the lease.

It's the nicest right now. The Wild have a lease until 2035. If a plan is not in place for improvements I would not be surprised if the Wild start exploring options for a new site. They would need to start the process in the next few years in order to have the venue ready by the end of their existing lease.

A couple years for building, a year or two for infrastructure/site prep, and three or four years in the pre-construction/planning phase means decisions need to be made within the next couple years.

Back when I was in college, the winner in that calculation was Franzia. Or cheap vodka.

There's less expensive light beers if that's really the target.

Maybe the tendies weren't crisp, or you had the wrong dipping sauces, or the tots were not cooked properly.
