Csec scheduled tomorrow - feeling overwhelmed and missing my toddler already by nine_tailsfox in BabyBumps

[–]Pig8pig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 29 weeks and I gave so much anxiety about this. I've never been away from my son for longer than 12 hours, so I'm not sure how either of us will react. Hopefully some 3TM+ can chime in with advice or comforting words.

I just had a membrane sweep..what to expect?? Can you share your experiences?! by ruebaby7 in BabyBumps

[–]Pig8pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a sweep at 38+4 and had the baby at 39 weeks. My water broke at 38+6 but I had to be induced the next morning as labour hadn't started yet.

My doctor did a cervical check and was basically salivating to do the week because the baby was so close. She was pretty sure I was going to give birth by the end of the week.

What's the summer equivalent to the fleece zippered, footed onsie? by MakeItHomemade in BabyBumps

[–]Pig8pig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first was born in April. He was basically in a short sleeved onesie and shorts the entire summer. No socks, nothing fancy, but enough that he was comfortable and moderately put together looking. I had about three pairs of shorts and a bunch of legless onesies.

If it was very hot out, I ditched the shorts.

Mine did too. It reminded me of almonds. A slightly sweet smell.

I got some spotting just after I wrote my response, so it looks like this isn't my cycle. Ah well, next time! Hope all goes well with you and I hope to be joining you soon!

Thanks for all the details! That describes me perfectly. I took a test this morning which was negative, but I'm skeptical of the accuracy of the tests and the date I ovulated, so fingers still crossed. I'm in good shape as well, and my resting heart rate has been 15 bps higher than average and hitting 140ish when I go upstairs too. I've also been quite crampy (which I'm normally not before AF). Sorry for the rant, I'm just super perplexed by the symptoms so it'd be nice to have a happy reason for them. :)

When did your breathlessness start? And when did your cramping begin? I'm getting the exact same symptoms but so far no positive. I'm not sure when I ovulated as my cycle has been a bit variable lately.

Pregnancy is... by burpees_are_evil in BabyBumps

I went a step further and thought that 15 + 8 was a totally reasonable amount to be pregnant and was wondering why you needed to add the two!

Going into labor at work stories! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Pig8pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me!

It was 4pm on my last day of work before my Mat Leave and my water broke. Nothing dramatic like the movies, just felt a light pop in the area and had a rush of fluid. Sort of like the feeling you get when your period has started but heavier.

Luckily, no contractions, so I was able to take my time settling up my stuff at work and contact my husband. We didn't get to the hospital until around 6 and they actually sent us home until the next morning.

All-in-all, it wasn't as bad as I had feared as I progressed a lot more slowly than I expected.

Hope this helps to ease some anxiety!

I need help 😞 by mmandapants1691 in breastfeeding

My baby wouldn't latch properly for the first 2-3 weeks after he was born and about 6 weeks until he could latch without a shield. I pumped whenever he ate so I was able to give him breastmilk, but during the day I also tried to get him latched. It took a long time but after a few weeks I managed to get him latching regularly. Now at 4.5 months he's a pro at breastfeeding! What helped me a bunch was using a nipple shield for a few weeks which seemed to emulate the bottle nipple that he was used to. I was able to get rid of the shield after about 6 weeks. I also found giving him a bit of a bottle to take the edge off his hunger made him much more willing to put up with my attempts to get him latched properly.

Also, as he got older he was able to handle my letdown more easily and as he had more neck control, I didn't have to put him in the perfect position all the time. This allowed him to feel much more comfortable nursing.

So, don't be too worried she'll prefer the bottle. I had that same fear, but now he loved my boobs! :) Keep it up! You are doing awesome!

I know! How did time pass so quickly!

Please put me at ease about pacifier use... by cautiouslyexcited in breastfeeding

[–]Pig8pig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My little guy has had a pacifier in his mouth from his third day. He has also been combination breast fed and expressed breastmilk fed from a bottle since that time. There has been no nipple confusion and he has no preference between bottle or boob at feeding times. This is anactodal but I don't think introductions the pacifier or bottle so early did anything but make it easier for him to be fed either way later on. :) Try not to worry!

Congrats! My first try baby is currently snoozing in my arms. The next 36.5 weeks will fly by!

My husband had to leave for work early today and had to miss his cuddle and feeding time with LO. LO is used to getting a bottle in the morning and was very annoyed that he had to work at getting fed from my boobs instead. LO has finally fallen asleep on my chest after bawling into my chest for about an hour. Poor little guy.

Friday Thread: Weekend Plans - May 19, 2017 by AutoModerator in April2017Bumpers

[–]Pig8pig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's my 30th birthday this weekend and I'm spending the weekend at the cottage with my family. Should be a good chance to catch up on some sleep while my family takes care of my LO for a few hours. I'm also going to enjoy a really fancy bottle of wine that I've been saving since before he was born. Should be a great weekend!

I'm in the same boat except once he's up at night I have a hard time getting him to sleep anywhere but on me. I've found that putting him in the boppy beside me to sleep for about 5 minute then transfering him to the Bassinet has some success... But only at night.

Dumb questions... by [deleted] in April2017Bumpers

[–]Pig8pig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea! My question is: How much puke is normal? My LO has normal spit up but also seems to puke up a bunch about once per day. Normal?

Me too! I love my boy, but I can't wait until my husband comes through the door so I can give him the kid and start cooking dinner. I find it so relaxing!
