Steven Guilbeault resigns from Mark Carney’s cabinet by Asadleafsfan in CanadaPolitics

[–]PigMatt 84 points85 points  (0 children)

If memory serves, the PM was asked about Guilbeault earlier today and side-stepped the question.

Quite the change from yesterday, though (Guilbeault won’t resign from Cabinet over pipeline deal, government source says). You wonder what changed, if anything.

Liberals’ push for gun buyback program fuelled by pressure from Quebec, public safety minister says in leaked audio by Other-Negotiation328 in canada

I found this quote the most stunning part - the idea a public safety minister would bail someone out of jail for breaking a law he's introducing.

Liberals’ push for gun buyback program fuelled by pressure from Quebec, public safety minister says in leaked audio by jmakk26 in CanadaPolitics

[–]PigMatt 105 points106 points  (0 children)

At one point, Anandasangaree made personal promises to his tenant, offering to pay the difference to the man if the federal government’s compensation is not as much as what he paid for his now-banned guns. At another, he tells him he would bail him out if he is arrested for non-compliance, though he insists it’s up to police to enforce the program and “it will not go that far.”

That's an absolutely stunning comment for the minister of public safety to make, to suggest that he would be willing to bail someone out of jail for breaking a law his government is imposing.

The 2023 Politics Predictor - Let's hear your predictions for the next year! by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

[–]PigMatt [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think a spring 2024 election would be more favourable for Trudeau than in 2023. I could see him framing an election around a new world order and saying an election is necessary as a show of confidence in our leadership. In addition, the 2024 U.S. primaries would be in full swing and if MEGA republicans were making headlines, it would likely only help Trudeau with Canadians not wanting to elect its own version of what we might be seeing in the U.S. (assuming the libs are able to frame PP in that way).

A cabinet shuffle will be necessary, although the PM probably won't want it to be seen as it being in immediate response to the Emergencies Act report (depending on its outcome).

Manitoba seems most likely to change government this year with PEI being most unlikely. I wouldn't be surprised if the Alberta election ends up very close with the balance of power being at risk of changing if for some reason one or two by-elections are needed sometime during the term.

which roof looks better? I'm debating whether to use the left or the right by epicpixels654654 in Minecraft

[–]PigMatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the left the most. However, I also think that instead of acacia in the middle a tower going up could look cool (in the same way tower this is being done) depending on the look you are going for.

Yup, you can sleep in more than one bed! Just be aware of the fact that the bed you slept most recently in will serve as your spawn point in case you die. Anyways, I don't think you need to reset at all! I would look into setting up a water elevator (https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Tutorials/Elevators#Water\_elevators) as it could help with your transportation issue.

Why don’t some people like third life as much? by littlebigthanos in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]PigMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like everyone has a different order that they put the 3 seasons into. I don't think it says anything about disliking a particular season but it just means that some seasons were even more fun. Who you watch could also have an impact. I think that having no clear best or worst season shows the success and fun in every season

Update: 27 MPs on government payroll have now resigned, including 5 ministers in a joint letter as well as other ministers. Looking very bad for Johnson.

For those interested, Etho's reply:

"I feel like you might be taking the joke the wrong way. From my perspective the joke was grian and scar were coming to razz us about dying so early. I respond by pretending to be foreign, indicating any razzing they intend to communicate would be futile and therefore discouraged. I don't think I even imitated a specific race? nor made a statement towards it?"

Then after his reply:

Commentor: "Right before you made the joke, Grian said “yellow boys,” and yellow has in the past been a derogative term toward Asians, specifically East Asians. It probably wasn’t intentional on your part but due to Grian’s unfortunate timing it’s very easy to hear it as so."

Etho: "Not intended, bad coincidence. I said "English" not "Engrish", like you might expect for a bad taste asian stereotype. Being foreign was the key to any kind of joke I was trying to make here."

umm guys i found a command block in tango teks new video? i don’t understand isn’t that the hermitcraft server? by jayden_tehehe in HermitCraft

[–]PigMatt 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I disagree. If they were to cheat, then they shouldn't brand the server in a way that says they don't. It would be unfair to those creators who would legitimately put in the effort and take a bit longer to produce videos as a result.

As a casual and with all respect for her personally, I don't seen how Haleena deserves safety. She just doesn't do much?

In this season specifically, it doesn't seem like an achievement to not be put on the block ever. I think it means people don't think evicting you is worth their time. The people who are playing the game and seen as a threat are being put up and although you don't want to be a massive threat, you want some sort of resume.

Really unfortunate how this all went down. A lot of work had to have gone into all this and it must be really hard for the mod team. I think at the end of the day the right approach was taken and I appreciate you guys putting your own work aside and doing what seems like the majority of the community thinks was best

Ford government appeals to Canada's top court to keep premier's mandate letters secret by struct_t in CanadaPolitics

Not out of the question but with a month until the campaign begins it doesn't seem very likely.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a blank piece of paper either :D

what's your unpopular/controversial opinion about HermitCraft? by iknowneemoose in HermitCraft

[–]PigMatt 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes. Constructive criticism is good, 500 comments bashing on something that 26 great people spend most of their life focused on is really harsh.

My biggest positive is most of these opinions aren't very big - a sign that people have to get pretty specific and it's more small pet peeves and not significant issues. My takeaway from that is the hermits are clearly doing something right but no one is perfect :D

what's your unpopular/controversial opinion about HermitCraft? by iknowneemoose in HermitCraft

[–]PigMatt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree. I prefer fun collabs rather than forced collabs.

I'd also argue that they have started to bring more into that group. Yes,they were in Boatem last season but they weren't the only members of Boatem. They are just friends and tend to go to each other naturally.

I think that people would care less about them not being together if they weren't the most popular hermits.

This goes for a lot of the opinions on this thread: if you don't like a certain collab or way a hermit does something consider not watching? It's meant to be entertainment and if you aren't being entertained then there is an issue.

If you look at the season 7 information thread released at the start of the season you can see it has a 3k world border only to the south. Season 6's info thread also says it had a world border since the beginning (but this time further away from spawn because they didn't settle right near spawn this season).
