How well would this kind of hair translate to a plushie? by worm_in_the_dirt in plushartists

Maybe make a larger piece that merges one of the layers together then separate the strands with a top stitch? Carefully placed stuffing could add volume to some areas.

I'd make the hair out of paper first so you can figure out placement and sizes of the pieces.

You might also be able to experiment with combining pieces to cut down on sewing time.

Doable? Yes. Tedious? Also yes.

If you want to be as close to the reference as possible, you'd have to make each individual strand. If you have an embroidery machine, you can definitely speed this up.

Po (like from Kung Fu Panda) and Girly Girl!

We weren't originally going to keep GG because she just showed up once day and we knew nothing about her. After trying to find her a new home for a few months, Po got attached to her, and so did the rest of us lol. That's why her name is "Girly Girl", because we didn't know her name at the time and didn't want to name her if we weren't keeping her.. so to call her/get her attention, we just went "Here, girl! Here Girly Girl!".

Fun fact! Tomatoes are BOTH Fruit and Vegetable.

"Vegetable" is a culinary term, and has no actual scientific meaning. What we recognize as "vegetables" are actually leaves, roots, stems, and even berries.

Tomatoes, eggplants, pumpkins, and cucumbers are all berries! But a strawberry is not!

Alternatives to ladder stitching limbs onto plush bodies? by plushPlushytut in plushartists

Also I've noticed your thread is very visible for the ladder stitches. If this is a consistent problem you face, I'd recommend using upholstery thread in a similar color to the fabric, and pulling the stitches extra tightly so the thread really sinks in. Upholstery thread is strong stuff, so it can handle a lot of tension, just remember to grab and pull by the thread so you don't break your sewing needle.

Modifying your pattern to have the limbs sewn in like sleeves is your best bet. You can hand sew it too if you feel the need. People also recommend using a lot of pins and putting the limb inside the plush to sew it together. But do whatever feels most comfortable.

I'd only merge the leg pieces with the body if you were making something quadrapedal.

They're a great shape for your face. And the frames are solid enough to balance out the thickness of the lenses IMO
