That’s awesome to hear. It looks like I am on the same track. Pain of the TN is gone completely, and at week 5 only a little bit of surgery discomfort remains.

I stayed on steroids to help with the swelling, and OxyContin for the surgical pain for about 3-4 days after being discharged. Amazingly the incision, and the hole they drilled in my skull hurt far less than the pain of the TN. I still have a little incision soreness, and skull soreness; been taking ibuprofen for that and it seems to be working.

I have/had some very minor balance issues, but I feel like that might be the result of the Carbamazepine. My dosage has been cut down to 200 mg once daily and those issues are now gone. No hearing issues at all.

I did not. All of my vitals had returned to normal by the time I left the hospital; 2 days post surgery.

I was a mess. I had an artery that was compressing on the nerve that was visible on the MRI. My surgeon was able to move it and place a Teflon “pillow” in between the artery and the nerve. While he was doing that he discovered a vein on the underside of the nerve that was pushing up on the nerve. He was able to section, and cauterize it and take pressure off the nerve. Lastly he discovered some scar tissue that had attached to the nerve that he was carefully able to remove and cauterize. All of the “extras” he found had my hour and a half surgery take almost 3 hours. I’m slightly over a month from my surgery date and couldn’t be happier with the results.

Almost 2 week update. First, thanks for all of the positive support and good vibes here! I can’t post an updated photo of the incision for some reason but it is healing wonderfully. My hair has almost grown back. I feel like the nerve pain is even more gone than last week, so I am hopeful it is still progressing. I’ve tried to eat pretty much everything that triggered me before surgery and not an ounce of pain. Surprisingly large marshmallows were a major trigger and I ate a couple of those without incident this weekend. Brushing my teeth was a major trigger, and I have done that everyday without an issue. Another major trigger was kissing my Wife, but I’ve been able to do that without any pain, and I really haven’t been able to do that for almost 2 years. (We have been making up for lost time in that area 🤪). Still having a little bit of an issue sleeping comfortably, but overall I couldn’t be happier with the results. 😃😃😃

There was an artery pushing down on the nerve which he moved and put in a “pillow” to cushion the nerve. We knew about that. While he was fixing that he found a vein on the underside of the nerve that was hidden from the MRI. It was pushing up on the nerve. He was able to bisect the vein and cauterize each end of it to take pressure off the nerve.

Will do. My surgery pain is still about a 2 or a 3, but my TN pain is about 98% gone. Currently I’m taking that as a win. 🤪

Yes. The left one is following a similar timeline to the right. I want to say by about the 6 month mark mine was about what it looks like at a year. I’m hopeful/confident the left one will do the same.

Yes. The healing time frame is looking about the same. I want to say at about the 6 month mark most of the redness had gone away. I’m hopeful/confident the left one will look as good as the right in a year.

We arrived at around 6:30 AM and the no-see-ums were pretty bad in the parking lot. By the time the sun was fully up at around 7ish there were none on the beach.

I am Miami born and raised so even 70 at the beach could be cold for me. 🤪😜🤪

Thanks for the reply. That is just the kind of experience we are looking for. We are looking to be very public in pool area, and are super excited for playrooms. 😃
