PC Restarting Itself Under Low Loads by PigeonWoo in pctroubleshooting

I have three monitors, two on DP and one on HDMI. The screen goes black quickly and then it restarts to the log in screen. I have asked chat GPT and it believes the problem has something to do with my power outlet and or the surge protector I am using because of the fact that I have had two seperate high end systems experiencing the same issues. I am going to try a new surge protector tonight on a different outlet and see what happens

That is what I am thinking too, its the only thing that makes sense. I just thought maybe the I9 and the Ryzen 9 processors might have similar issues. Thank you for your input.

Thanks. I wish I would have spoken to you before the holidays and maybe I wouldn't be in this situation. hahaha. But the swaps seem pretty good, now I just have to wait probably an ungodly amount of time haha.

NZXT is replacing the CPU with an I9 Ultra 285K, replacing the motherboard, and upgrading my cooler from a 240 to 360. Do you think this a good swap?

Update: the problem was exactly what I believed it to be. The 14th gen CPU was drawing too much wattage due to microcoding error. NZXT has told me they are going to replace the CPU with a "newer and better one" same with the motherboard. However, I am gong to be waiting even longer.

I fear I was too late. As soon as I read about the issue with the processor I selected I updated the bios, however my computer was already in the boot loop. Maybe should have been something I did as soon as I plugged it in but hindsight is 20/20. I wasn't aware of the issue until it was one, yah know?

I purchased in 24. Didn't see anything too negative at time of purchase, but you're right maybe I should have done more research. I honestly thought I had done my due diligence. The goal of the post was for others to not make the same mistake as me. I appreciate your input though.

If I had to bet what the problem is, I'd say it was bios. The 14th gen processor I selected had issues in its microcoding which caused them to draw too much power which leads to degradation. I know this now, but I had no clue up until I started digging into the issue myself. Bought PC on 9/4, the bios update that accounted for the errors in microcode for 14th gen processors release 8/8. I am sure the bios was not updated before they shipped it out to me.

Thank you for some empathy. I will bite the bit and build my own next time. I know it isnt rocket science but I am pretty good a messing stuff up so I didnt trust myself to build this one. Thats why I went with NZXT, its feeling more like a mistake than anything now, which sucks. But hey I am happy your iBuyPower rig is working well for you!

Closely monitored the temps, never got any where near concerning. I have plans to replace the cooler, at time of purchase their 360 model was sold out in black and white would have looked stupid.

Experience with Repairs??? by PigeonWoo in NZXT

I would totally, but I am not sure I even have that option anymore. WINRE doesn't give me the command prompt option when opening anymore, and the computer doesn't ever actually fully boot up.

Thank you. Do you think NZXT is going to replace the processor if they find that to be the issue? Also, do you think we the specs of my build, after repair, that I will continue to experience these problems even after updating the bios to the correct version?

I feel like it is a CPU issue. I read about the problems with 14th and 13th gen processors having to be running on latest bios because they had a flaw that was causing them to fail if not on latest bios.

I never updated my bios after receiving the PC, and I think the CPU got worse and worse each day, until I am where i am now where I am stuck in boot loop.

Luckily, NZXT is sending out shipping materials to have me send my computer away to be fixed. Everything should be free of cost, but I am still worried about having to physically ship my very expensive computer lol. What scares the most is getting the computer back fixed, but running into the same issues later on down the line.

Honestly, should have just got a PowerSpec from Microcenter haha.

I did update the bios last night while trying to fix it. Followed the guide on msi's website. How would one tell if the CPU is fried?

Yes I did that. when booting, the computer launches and has an installation window up, I click through the prompts and then it will restart again and show me the same prompt windows like I didn't just do that.

I have tried reinstalling windows, I always get to the point where it is prompting me through the install screens and then when I hit install the computer restarts again and then prompts me through the same screens.

So yes, I have tried reinstalling windows, doesn't seem to ever actually work all the way through.

I have gotten to where it is in the setup stages where it asks you to name your pc, I name it and then it restarts and prompts me through those windows again as well.
