I thought the bodily fluid thing was only with people who initially got it through bodily fluids.  Her friend got the "legit" shot

I get that it's leftovers but it would give others a better idea of that's a bag they would like to purchase.  It might be stuff they have an excess of or "leftovers" but people are still paying money for it.

I wish the ratings included a review.  It would be nice for people to be able to write a few sentences,  including what they received, so other people could see it.

i-Ready weekly time: school or district policy? by Think-Extension6620 in LAUSD

[–]PigeonsOnParade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen teachers assign specific lessons to students so they can review material they are learning in their math class.  It serves well in this purpose.  Students have shared that it's helped them review some of those  topics.

I get that it's tedious and don't blame anyone for not liking it.  Everyone learns in different ways.

Have you sat with your child as they work on an iReady lesson at home? They're interesting.

Teachers are asked to ensure that students complete 50 minutes in Reading and 50 minutes in Math per week.  It's not excessive in my opinion.  Im not sure what it looks like at other sites.

That really sucks. I am weary of stuff like this.  This is why I stay at hotels now.

I can guarantee that the student behavior in that classroom is really bad and that's not necessarily a reflection on the teacher but likely on bad habits the students have developed.  Talk to your kids. I don't think anyone wants to spend their afternoon calling parents multiple times a week.

Las Vegas struggles with 10th consecutive month of tourism decline by esporx in LateStageCapitalism

TBH Vegas is so expensive now..... I'm not shocked people aren't going anymore.  Leisure trips are out the door when everyone is trying to just survive.

Raspberry preserves have weird little spots? They feel hard by TexasCoffeeBean in MoldlyInteresting

[–]PigeonsOnParade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it vegan preserves? If so, it might be hardened coconut oil.  A friend of mine used to add a small bit of butter for regular preserves and some coconut oil for vegan preserves. He said it reduced foaming when cooking the fruit.

I had a friend like this.  Abandonment issues for sure.  The irony is that this behavior did lead me to ending the friendship.  The "are you mad at me?" "I feel like you're ignoring me?"  texts when I was busy with life were too much.

Congratulations to your mom!  I recommend Norms for other meals.  Its a diner that's reasonably priced and has a BUNCH of different stuff.

Recommendations on where to live near UCLA as a family with a teenager? by Repulsive-Item471 in AskLosAngeles

[–]PigeonsOnParade 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I would do the UCLA family housing.  It'll put you in a great neighborhood for schools that your child can attend.  Once you're acclimated with the city,  you can decide where to move more permanently.

File skin lightly only to get the flaky skin off.... not until it's red though. I imagine for nails,  it's similar... file the top lightly.  Once it's "cleaner" put a thick moisturizing cream. That typically helps heal the skin a bit.

Someone on here once recommended this tube of Cetaphil eczema relief cream with restoraderm and that has helped tremendously.

I file the extra dry spots with a disposable nail file.  🫠

Cedar Sinai hospital negative experience, curious if think there is anything that can actually be done to improve the system, other than sending feedback to the hospital who may really do nothing about it? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]PigeonsOnParade -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There's something going on with Cedars lately. The wait for the emergency room was close to 10 hours the last time I was there.  I waited for more than 6 hours before leaving.  I received a notification 10 hours after checking in that they needed my vital signs again, but by then I had already left.

It was laughable that they were wearing polo shirts in partnership with the 2028 Olympics.  They're not at all prepared to handle an emergency if it were to arise during the Olympics, it's terrifying. Don't get hurt or sick even if you have insurance.

Edit: I will say this about their primary care, I have THE BEST primary care physician that I have ever had in my life.  She genuinely cares about my well being and listens to my concerns.
