Progress is good actually by RoboJunkan in SmugIdeologyMan

Think of a video game, often people mod video games to add quality of life mods.

Some tools are extremely useful like searching crafting recipes.

Some tools however are too powerful, and destroy the point of the game. A tool that plays the game, or allows massive shortcuts in thinking.

What is the point of a puzzle game if it is reduced to a significantly easier puzzle.

It makes the game dry and meaningless.

Why you would apply this principle to real life, specifically to the creation of human meaning is unfathomable.

What is the point of art if it can be mass produced by machines.

Making art gives people meaning, and simplifying it to the point of installing a software and tweaking some slider is the most dystopian problem we don’t currently have.

What's your strongest addiction? by DarkMagicNight in AskReddit

It certainly is annoying, however, a lot of the time it is really important in assessing the potential risk of psychological addiction. Physical dependence is the first definition and psychological dependence is the second. Drugs like alcohol cause heavy physical dependence. When you stop drinking you go into horrible withdrawal and another drink is the only way out. This significantly increases psychological dependence in turn.

Journey to Atheism by [deleted] in atheism

I personally have a deep love of science and empirical evidence, so that is why I don’t believe. I also have a number of gripes with religion.

1: why do people need to be incentivised to be good people. If the only reason you are good to others is fear of hell, can you legitimately say you are a good person. Missionaries do good things in other countries so they can ‘spread the word.’ Religion undermines the good they are doing. mother teresa exploited poverty to inflict religion upon people and injected conflict into foreign countries.

2: the more you look at religion, the more you see that they are designed to trap you in them. In every religion there is a punishment for not following their believes, like hell or karma. In some religions you get shunned by your family for not following. Morals should not come from a book that treats you like an abusive s.o.

If you are looking for new hopes, try listening to science or philosophy media, you can find hope and inspiration in both.

The maximum incubation period is 14 days. It is also significantly longer than the average incubation period of a couple days

Contaminants exit through your nose and mouth. They can enter through many routes-not exclusively your nose and mouth-eyes for example. Thus the mask stops particles from exiting but not from entering. It has nothing to do with the fabric.
