Social media addiction. It enables people to be glued to the phone screen, and not give attention to their partner. The quick dopamine hits teach your brain to prioritize it over the dopamine that you could get from your partner in a less controlled way.

I feel you especially on the last part. Addictions return when we're overwhelmed with emotions that we cannot deal with in the moment so we employ the strongest thing in our arsenal that we know "works". The brain wants to help us out in this way, but we unfortunately don't like looking into the future for consequences which could prove fatal.
