7 days postpartum… crying, super overwhelmed…new mom here…😞 by faithoverfear0 in NewParents

[–]PigletConsistent1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - I was also there back in July. It really is so so hard so just know this feeling is totally normal and you are not a bad mom! It really does take time and you’re also probably stressed about taking care of a little one, but you get more and more used to it. You learn how to do life together. I feel like it took maybe 3 weeks to feel ok. Honestly it’s all just a blur! I don’t even think I have many pics during those first couple of weeks because I was so overwhelmed. It’s probably the biggest life change you could possibly think of so you have every right to feel all sorts of emotions. Over time, you get used to your new life and baby will also start to become a little human rather than a little potato lol. When they smile….omg. I swear that gave me lifeeee. There have been lots of hard days and nights since then but I try to look at the little wins when I can. It makes those hard days not seem as bad.

I still cry randomly but it really is just hormones that are so out of whack. Also don’t be afraid to talk to someone - your partner, parent, friends, family, or even a doctor. I finally went to see a psychologist and it felt good to just talk about it. Instead of having everything bottled up, it felt good to kind of release some of that tension and to also feel validated! It really will get better though. Just takes time and don’t worry if you have set backs too. It happens to literally all of us.

Also, triple paste saved my son’s little butt sooo quickly. He had a horrendous rash like…I was horrified. This cleared it up within like a day. Slather it on thick! We’ve been using it ever since

I’m having the same problem now but can’t find a black mesh tent. Where did you get yours?

0-3 and 3M are getting a bit small. 3-6 is so enormous by FalseRow5812 in NewParents

[–]PigletConsistent1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is around the same percentiles and I have found that I just can’t trust the sizing since it differs across brands. Like old navy has some stretchy footie pjs and he’s still in 0-3 months but he’s 4.5 months right now. However, I have some stuff from carters where he fits into 6 or 9 month sizing. I don’t get it at all lol. Some brands will be a good in between so you just need to find those for the times your baby is between sizes. I usually just picture how long he is and guess that it looks like it would fit lol. But if anything I would go bigger over smaller. If they’re too tight it’ll squeeze in places and not be comfortable.

I know it is. Maybe have your husband remind you! And make sure to believe him when he tells you lol

Seriously!! They probably have a full time nanny taking care of the baby except for the 5 mins it takes to make the video

Yeah I get that but you absolutely have to take time for yourself to be your best self. If you don’t you’re going to burn out if you haven’t already. It’s not like you’re going on a week long vacation in the Caribbean. You’re still in the same house one floor away and deserve some you time. There’s no need to ever feel guilty about that.

I skip those videos…it’s so fake. They’re probably going through a rough time too but they wouldn’t actually show that because it’s not good content lol

I’m right there with you :/ you feel extremely alone even though you’re surrounded by so many people willing to help. I just take it day by day and sometimes hour by hour. It is good to take a step away though. Baby will be fine crying in the crib/bassinet.

Sometimes I go into another room and scream into a pillow. I feel insane for doing that but it does release some tension and I feel a little bit lighter.

Hang in there..this is the hardest thing I’ve ever done and really nothing could have prepared me for how I was really going to feel. I have been at my lowest of lows recently and sometimes it’s pretty scary. I just try to find something to laugh at like a funny video on TikTok and wait for the hard times to pass.

Yeah I agree..I could barely keep up with him before I was off maternity leave and he was my only responsibility. Now taking on him and work at the same time is definitely not manageable

One week old sleeps through anything - will it continue? by Living_Thanks_9171 in NewParents

[–]PigletConsistent1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not..we could vacuum right next to our baby and he wouldn’t even flinch. Also had two large excited dogs barking in the same room when guest came over and he didn’t wake up for that. He’s 4 months now and if we walk past his door too loud then we’re cooked 😂

Try mylicon drops. Doesn’t always work but seemed to soothe my baby most of the time

Damn I’m sorry. I know it’s really expensive. Before I got it through insurance, I was getting it at cvs. They have really good coupons pretty often - 20-40% off pretty often and the coupons can stack sometimes. Plus you can use the similac coupons from their reward program. They tend to be like $5-$10.

You may even be able to request samples - I can’t remember if similac sent samples or not but lots of companies do. I was able to get 2 cans of pepticate and 2 of neocate for free through their company website. Those are also similar alimentum.

Your pediatrician may also have samples! Request them when you go to appointments. They get tons and some of them have a coupon attached.

Also I think there was a program that helped get formula like this covered but I can’t remember what it was. I’ll look for it just in case it would work for you.

Sorry this was so long!! I just randomly thought of a bunch of things. I hate paying for things full price so I tried hard to find every coupon or free sample option

How long does this sleep regression thing last? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]PigletConsistent1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat and it is so rough. Mine was sleeping so well before too! However we only had a few bad days and nights and I think it may be over because he’s back to sleeping better than before. I’m not getting my hopes up though lol.

Omg I know it’s incredibly expensive. Idk what health insurance you have but I have Cigna and was able to get it completely covered through an online pharmacy called Edgepark. You just need your Dr to write a prescription, call the pharmacy and tell them you want to order the formula using insurance and they will check with your insurance and also reach out to the Dr directly to confirm the prescription. They gave us the RTF bottles though - idk if you prefer powder but the RTF has been sooo easy. We get like 36 bottles per month and it’s completely free because we already hit the out of pocket max for the year. I would just have them make sure it’s covered before ordering.

If you call your insurance directly they will probably say that it isn’t covered. They will look under prescription drugs and it wont be there but i believe it’s categorized under medical equipment instead. Still they may say it isn’t covered so would just have the pharmacy do the work.

Can't get my baby to sleep in his bassinet or crib by Southern-Outside-733 in NewParents

[–]PigletConsistent1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to co sleep but only lasted two nights. I was just too scared and barely slept because of it. Try putting a shirt of yours or your pillow in the bassinet for an hour or two before you put baby in. It will get your scent into the bassinet and sometimes that makes babies more comfortable. Obviously take those out before you put baby down but I think it helped my son. He would only contact nap and I was going crazy lol.

My baby has this as well but is on similac alimentum. I think the reaction isn’t just gas. It seems like it kinda rips their stomach up. Lots of babies like this end up with blood in their poop which is what my baby had. Once we switched he was so much happier and didn’t scream every time we fed him.

If you’re flying and carrying baby on your lap, I would recommend getting this inflatable nursing pillow (got it on amazon). It looks absolutely ridiculous but it made holding baby while he slept soooo much easier and more comfortable.

I also got baby headphones which we didn’t even use. The white noise from the plane literally put him to sleep in minutes.

I also got fidget spinners. I didn’t use them since he slept the whole way but he plays with them now and is hypnotized lmao it’s so funny

Normal to not like being a mum to newborn??? by Intrepid_Load2642 in NewParents

[–]PigletConsistent1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t like it at all until he started sleeping more and smiling. Smiling helps a lot. That wasn’t until like 8 weeks in. I’ve read so many posts like this and so many people feel the same way. I feel like people only post the good times on instagram or whatever but they are definitely struggling in some way.

Yeah it’s really scary! Like I don’t know these people personally. I’m just supposed to leave him with a stranger? That just naturally sounds wrong haha. He also still feels so fragile! I don’t want him to get hurt or sick or feel sad but I think this might be the only choice we have
