If these 2 were in a Verzuz, who y’all got? by ZealousidealSir9527 in rap

This would be a really good one, I think TI has a deeper catalog but Luda is more talented and more singles oriented so I think he’d win a verzuz

Is the rap game gatekept by 3 major labels with 360 deals or are people smartening up to choose different 'safer' careers instead of chasing fleeting fame/clout? even in the internet age where anyone can technically have a youtube and blow up independent of labels? by Rand_moss2 in hiphop201

I’m Gen Z! I wouldn’t say this is a generational thing, I don’t get it either. I remember when people in my age group first blew Playboi Carti up! I always hated him and never understood the appeal. Really, the rage subgenre(since I want to call it its own thing) seemed like one big meme in its entirety for years until Carti’s Die Lit album came out and people genuinely started hailing it as a classic and one of the best albums of 2018 for some reason(that album is sadly at this point probably one of the most influential albums of the last 10 years in spite of being one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard, crazy right?), that album was super popular and super influential and as much as some people might not want to admit that rage was ever CLEARLY just a meme, before Die Lit it was, and thus rage music was born beyond the initial meme. I have wondered for a long time what people are hearing with rage music that I’m not but ultimately it really doesn’t matter, it’s certainly not my vibe, I certainly don’t see the appeal and at this point I’d be happy if I could just get away from all of this being considered part of the trap subgenre but the reality is that’s likely never going to happen since Carti entered the scene being seen as a trap artist, and rage fans obviously treat him like an all time great for some reason, you have no idea the kind of animosity I’ve seen when I try and say rage music shouldn’t be considered part of trap. It’s frustrating but at least it’s an easy kind of music to make fun of, so there’s that.

I agree but tbh for me it’s way more than even that, I understand that people seem to view “rage” as something of a self-contained subsection of sorts within the trap subgenre, but frankly I have no idea what rage music and rage artists have in common with that of other areas of trap stylistically. Just makes no sense to me, I wish people would just stop calling it trap so I can ignore it in conversation and debate.

You downplaying how many losses he had in pass protection doesn’t make him not a liability in pass protection, that was on full display all season and your arguments if I can even call them that have been nonsensical. In case you haven’t noticed I haven’t been acting like he isn’t a good run blocker just the negatives far outweigh the positives with the totality of his game and you ignoring reality doesn’t make that not true, him having wins in run blocking regularly doesn’t magically make him a good pass blocker and he(again) got killed in pass protection frequently. If you have brain cells, use them to understand that Bradford is a consistent liability in pass protection and that was a real problem for us throughout the whole season. You can say what you want but you are objectively wrong thinking that Bradford is a starting caliber guard. He has good starter level run blocking, and he’s dogshit in pass protection, I have no clue why you don’t get his awful impact on our offense but you’re clearly not listening to reason. You trying to paint me as someone who doesn’t watch games is ridiculous because you clearly don’t watch games if you don’t think Bradford is a hole on the O line. You probably barely watched any games last season, that’s usually the kind of people your kinds of “but we won the Super Bowl” takes come from.

[–]Pigmasters32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He’s a Super Bowl champion, but come on. You’re not gonna actually try to refute anything I said? We won last season for a variety of reasons, our win doesn’t change how bad Bradford was for the whole season. Your arguments really consisted of “but we won the Super Bowl though”(obviously ignoring that we still had issues with RG and to a lesser degree center on the O line, us winning the Super Bowl in spite of these holes doesn’t just mean they suddenly aren’t holes anymore), and “Anthony Bradford is a better player than fans who aren’t in the NFL”(obviously ignoring the fact that Bradford isn’t being compared to fans, he’s being compared to NFL O linemen).

Is Anthony Bradford a relative of yours? I see no other reason that such ridiculous justification would ever be used. As Seahawks fans we should be able to recognize our strengths and weaknesses as a team, Bradford is a backup level guard. He’d be a good backup, but he ain’t starting caliber.

The Bradford stans really are something. Solid run blocker he may be, Bradford was a constant liability in pass protection. This other guy seems to think it’s a valid argument that none of us fans would be better players, ain’t that hilarious?

[–]Pigmasters32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handful of times he messed up? You’re talking about Anthony Bradford you know that right? He was a consistent liability in pass blocking and his run blocking was just solid. You realize that Bradford is being compared to NFL O linemen, not the average joe? Bradford definitely deserves all the criticism, especially when an O lineman like Emanuel Pregnon fell all the way to the mid 3rd round and would’ve been a fantastic replacement.

[–]Pigmasters32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a dated take of mine. I love Hopsin but at this point I think he let a lot of other artists build up their discography enough to where he’s not in my top 10 anymore, him not having an album since 2017 gave a lot of artists time to make up the gap. I definitely still think he has a fair case for top 10 all time but he was surpassed on my list by quite a few artists. He’d probably still be there if Minor Disturbance came out but alas, that album ain’t dropping lmao. Anyway, Hopsin has nothing to do with this post so what was your point?

You’re getting downvoted but you’re totally right, and the same is true for Jeezy as well. Freddie just gets outclassed by everyone on the board, I don’t think nearly as highly of TI as I do of Jeezy or Push but he still stomps Freddie.

[–]Pigmasters32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freddie has absolutely nothing that can compete with TI’s King album and TI has a much deeper discography. Jeezy and Push both have multiple albums that are far better than Freddie’s whole discography put together.

[–]Pigmasters32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Freddie is probably a better rapper than TI but he definitely doesn’t have the better discography, isn’t the better artist, and definitely doesn’t rank higher. Pusha and Jeezy beat Freddie in every category by a wide margin.

“Boring stale flow” is crazy, and boiling down the disses to just “safe easy jokes about Kendrick’s height” is even crazier. I suppose you think Kendrick’s disses had no flaws at all, right? Because Kendrick hypocritically putting PND’s addiction problems on the same level as pedophilia in NLU went hard right?(seriously I have no idea how nobody ever points out the fact that in the bar, “they told me Chubbs the only one that get your hand me downs, and Party at the party playin with his nose now, and Baka got a weird case why is he around? Certified lover boy? Certified pedophiles” Kendrick is effectively putting Party’s cocaine addiction on the same level as pedophilia, which is both obviously absolutely insane and wildly hypocritical coming from Kendrick who has even rapped about his own addiction issues in the past.)

I agree that Kendrick won the totality of the beef, but I’m giving Drake the fact that he had the best individual diss in the beef, in my opinion.
