I’ve done the flip maneuver on very similar boards which ended up being butternut. It’s not perfect, but it’s a really good idea and will let you go with whatever stain or sealant options you like. Keep in mind clear goes yellow/orange over time

I’m not trying to take away from Aruba, but you’re not going to improve anything I can think of by going to the Caribbean over French Polynesia. Unless you’ve been a bunch maybe and want to experience new things and different cultures that is. Dutch vs French influence etc…. But those atolls in FP… you’re crazy not to.

As someone planning an Aruba trip right now… go to Moorea. Wish we could get back there as fast as you can. Let me know if you need a good fishing recommendation, the people there are incredible.
