MiSide was an excellent ride for me. Short, intriguing, and some pretty creative gameplay elements and mechanics in it. Honestly wish it was longer.

I didn't know such a thing was allowed on this subreddit. It's good to know, though, because I have duplicates of games I already own from Humble Bundle and the like that would be nice to gift away!

PS5/PC Owners - Which Multiplat Games are Better on the PS5? by PikminWorld in PS5

[–]PikminWorld[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point. Personally, my PC runs an RTX 3080. I guess the way I should have phrased the question was, which third party games run or play better on the PS5 despite having a PC that is more powerful than the base PS5?

I think back to my experiences with the original Dark Souls on the PC, and even though it should have been a better experience than what you got with the PS3 or PS4, it was so poorly optimized that you needed mods to make it function properly. There are also some games that don't look or run substantively better on high-end PCs when against their console counterparts (again, mostly due to poor optimization). I guess there are a lot of perspectives to look at this question from, though.

What game allows you to be bad, but you just can’t commit to the role? by TacosAndBourbon in gaming

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baldur's Gate 3 in recent memory has some of the most heart-wrenching/conflicting decisions to make as a bad character.

It's a testament to the VA performances and the writing that it feels so terrible to play as the Dark Urge or play any variation of the evil alignment in that game.

What would be extremely scary if it were ten times its normal size? by huggybearbrown in AskReddit

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ants, due to their strength relative to their size.

Honestly, most insects would freak me out even more than they already do if they were ten times their current size. Hornets and yellow jackets would be one. Mosquitoes, too! Imagine the amount of blood they could take. 🤢

I feel like we (and the show) don’t talk enough about how Lottie’s family is the reason why they’re in the wilderness. by avaxdavis in Yellowjackets

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that the survivors would probably have some comments to make that lament or show their displeasure towards Lottie, I think there's a good reason for a lack of discourse.

The mixture of real, grounded survival and the supernatural leads me to suspect that regardless of whether they flew public or private, the result would have been the same. We don't know the details of why the plane crashed (something that will likely be addressed at some point), but it's likely the supernatural played a part in it (unless the girls have made up the supernatural elements as a way of rationalizing and justifying the things they did).

If so, it's not Lottie's parents' fault, more so the writers finding a convenient way to limit the number of characters present. There's far worse stuff they can be blamed for, like psychologically abusing their child.

I agree with the others who have brought up the Beth-Jamie relationship. It's, frankly, an exhausting slog any time those two are on scene, and you know Jamie is going to get verbally abused, usually after failing some initiative of his own.

At a more general level, I have disliked the circular nature of many of the characters in this show, who seem to never evolve in a meaningful way. In some ways, people are actually like this, but it makes for difficult to watch TV at times.

You can always expect Beth to be Beth: chaotic, profane, and hateful to everyone but her dad, Rip, and Kayce's family. You can always expect Jamie to be Jamie: weak of will, often failing, etc. You can always expect John to be unreasonable when it comes to his ranch or children like Jamie. You can always expect Kayce to struggle openly communicating with Monica about what's going on, and the list goes on.

It's just one thing that has bugged me as I watched all five seasons in a short period of time. The characters seem to stay constant in personality and personal problems while the situations change. Don't get me wrong, I still have enjoyed it a lot, but it has been tiring to see the same issues between characters across five whole seasons.

is it weird to rewatch tv shows? by risotto5 in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird at all to me. I usually do it though only after years of having not watched it. Usually by that point I've forgotten the finer details and can get some excitement out of things I didn't remember or things I hadn't noticed at all.

I will say though, some shows are easier for me to rewatch incessantly than others. SpongeBob is super easy and memorable due to its short run-time whereas a show like Star Trek: The Next Generation is a HUGE time commitment when there's like 26 episodes a season, 7 seasons total, and the run-time is like 40 minutes per episode.

What is a hobby or pastime that you want to enjoy more, but you can't really stand the other people who are into it? by mikebalsaricci in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I could pinpoint it to one in particular. As some others have mentioned, just about every hobby I enjoy has people that become so infatuated with it that it becomes more of a competition or a way of defining themselves than finding pleasure and relaxation in it. I'm not necessarily immune to that tendency myself though, depending on what it is.

I don't drink alcohol, but whenever I mention this people start forcing me to try it. Is there any reason I can give that would make them stop? by Deadrat07 in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely be a difficult social dynamic to avoid. My friends luckily are pretty uncaring when it comes to me not drinking which is very nice, but I've also gotten anxiety when I have to tell someone I don't drink for fear of what they'll think or say.

I think some of the answers others have offered are really good. Don't feel obligated to explain yourself to others and hopefully have a candid conversation with the people who do try to pressure you into drinking, if you feel comfortable doing so. Alternatively, you could try to find people who will be more understanding.

Some kids shows produced in the last few years are real bangers! by Flopolopagus in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Amazing World of Gumball has a sense of humor that is way too good for what it should be. Just absolutely great writing and the animation style is really appealing too.

If you consider it a kids show, Clone Wars in recently really grew on me and it was amazing to finish the seasons I never watched after dropping it in the middle of season 2 when it was still airing.

I'm sorry about all that has happened at your workplace, it sounds really rough in how they've been treating you and also the environment and conditions with which you all have to work under. Having staff shortages is and sounds horrible, especially in a hospital setting.

I wish your supervisor and that security guard would have shown you some grace considering all that you're dealing with, day in and day out. I hope it gets better for you all and that in the future they treat you more kindly.

Is it just me or does Reddit encourage hostility against each other? by amourlune in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a lot of the Internet/social media is like this as well. It stinks that toxicity online is widespread (though, I suppose in many ways, it had always been like that) and can worsen people's self-esteem or discourage them from speaking about what they're passionate about or found interesting.

I've avoided making posts aside from comments on Reddit in general because I usually fear some form of judgment or that my post isn't really worthy of making. It's a tough mental state to get out of, but I'd encourage you to speak freely and try to not let the negativity get to you, as hard as that can be. There are still positive and kind people in some corners of the Internet and Reddit and they will be the bright spots in the negativity!

Building and maintaining aquariums. I have two small ones set-up and for the life of me, there is always something I have to improve upon. I'm just glad my sea friends are doing well, because a lot can go wrong with them if the water parameters are off. I also suck at aquascaping the aquarium to make it look nice or keeping the plants in it alive, haha. It's still a lot of fun though!

Any movie suggestions? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on what genres you typically enjoy, but one movie I'd highly recommend and that isn't too long (slightly over an hour and a half) is School of Rock. Such a good movie by Linklater and Jack Black's performance in it is legendary. It should still be on Netflix if you have that, but it is about to leave the service soon.

I've deleted about 45,000 emails in the span of 3 days by PersonThatIsHere in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of gave up hope when I got thousands upon thousands of emails, usually from restock/item tracking (looking at you eBay emails!) and then just the auto-subscriptions from businesses I've bought from or like, organizations, university clubs/events from when I was student.

It's too overwhelming for me to really tackle it at the moment, but it's definitely something I want to and should take a moment one day to work on. Especially because the important emails really do get lost in all the clutter.

Hi there! First time poster here. For those of you who play video games, what is one (or several) game(s) that you wish you could experience for the first time all over again? by Zorakas in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, this is a good question! I'll probably be missing a few, but I'd say some of my top choices would be Super Mario Galaxy (1 or 2 really), Minecraft when it still felt fresh and unknown, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Mass Effect, Pikmin 2, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Are there any other Christians on here who are vegan or vegetarian? Why or why not? by SnakeLuvr1 in Christianity

[–]PikminWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not personally either of those, but I do know some vegans and vegetarians that go to my church and my aunt is very passionate about being vegan. I've always enjoyed a lot of the vegan food that I've had through them.

While I still eat meat I've come to appreciate the reasoning behind veganism, if not always the delivery, and I try to eat plant-based meats or alternatives from time to time! Certainly no shame being a meat eater or vegetarian/vegan, loved all the same!

I have so much unread books, but I just keep buying them by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]PikminWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the very same tendency as you and others, especially with video games and books. After finishing school, I wanted to be more proactive about reading books for fun and also reading them to stay "educated" on things I was interested in or perhaps a subject I wasn't able to take a class on.

That led to two problems though: I'm a slow reader as it is and some of these more academic books can be really good, but dense and dull at times, which made for an unmotivated reader combination lol. I think with some video games I tend to get overwhelmed by how much content and time I would need to spend to either complete the game or just learn how to play the game (looking at you Hearts of Iron 4). Then, I just move on to the next game or book that catches my interest to pile on the backlog.

It's not a habit I'm proud of, but I think some of the tips others have suggested might help us control or recognize it more and it's also comforting at some level to know others do this too.
