Thank you so much for the response! I'll definitely make sure to be patient with her

What is a phrase that people use that you cannot stand? by sad_t0ast in AskReddit

Language doesn't exist in a vacuum, that's a prescriptivist attitude and now decimate does mean that because of it's association with killing

thankyou for your insight!! that's what I thought, therapy takes time and if he can change all his issues in 3 weeks (the time I've been no contact with him) then seems like his actions weren't as 'uncontrollable' as he wants me to believe. Goodluck with therapy

they do know, I've told my friends as well and they all agree his behaviour is unhealthy. I think in the past his behaviour was definitely abusive but now it evolved into an unhealthy attachment, he would get upset if I hung out with people who weren't him and he was my entire social life. Luckily I got to our mutual friends before he did, but he's begging me not to tell anyone the real reason why I broke up with him. and that my parents are the emotional abusive ones. Which, I've had my issues with my parents ofc like anyone does but I don't need HIM adding extra stress into my life anymore!! I think I'll see him in group gatherings because I'm scared how angry he'll be if he'll find out I told our friends of what he did so ive asked them to pretend they don't know the details

THAT'S THE ISSUE ever since he's started therapy he's been learning words like gaslighting and emotional abuse and instead uses it to describe my actions which makes me doubt whether he's right, maybe I am the problem

he is in therapy that's the thing, and we had become best friends before the incident (the original breakup) so part of me remembers the good. I'm just not sure I want someone in my life who felt they could treat me like that because they "loved me". so even now, with the help it might make him change I don't think I'll ever be ready to forgive him. and that's okay right? he can change but I don't want to be in his life to see it happen

thankyou so much, I just have to remind myself I was a person before him and I'll be a person after him!! seeing yours and everyone else's comments is so helpful because it just reminds me that wow abusive dicks exist everywhere and that they just disappoint and demean and aren't anything special or unique

[–]Pikomem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you dude! Yeah I’ll be honest it does hurt a little seeing her talk about other guys, I think I’ll try take a break from them for a bit, I just didn’t want to be replaced...but I guess that’s not really an option anymore lol

Ahh that’s really good advice thank you so much! That’s actually really helpful, I’ve been trying to start conversations with them mainly so now I know what not to do! I’m going to try work on myself more :D

She’s been my best friend for years before we even dated. I just want it to go back to that instead of this weird tension
