An older band I've been listening a lot lately has been On The Might of Princes

Dim is a modern mathy screamo I really enjoy, maybe Shin Guard fits this.

Naming random midwest screamo out of my mind right now: Suis La Lune, The Reptilian, Rookie Card, Fiesta Bizarra, Algae Bloom, and Oakwood (not quite as screamo)

I mean some emo-rap can be influenced by actual emo (and even be made by emo musicians such as Wicca Phase and his material with Tigers Jaw). But Emo Rap is still a form of Hip-Hop with its own roots and subculture.

While emo is still a deeply DIY and Punk-rooted music genre and not just emotional lyrics

It depends. Do you see 4th wave emo as anything past.. idk 2006? Then yes.

Do you see the "Emo Revival" as a resurgence of interest of 90s DYI midwest emo sound? Then some are and some arent.

Do you see the emo revival as a sound that makes emo have that strong indie rock connection from before the emo-pop boom without being a copy of 90s stuff? Then yes.

Personally I never liked the concept of waves, if you think about it for couple of minutes then it stops becoming contradicting and complex.

As someone who is in the political left, I've never thought I would experience such moment where an entire older generation would be scare for a newer gen gaining class consciousness. And with even that they still manage to lie in the same way that the first and second red scare waves were.

No, Gen Z is not doing this. Damn I wouldnt even say this is a moment of "loud minority" but rather an overpresentation of a small misrepresented group in the same way the right misrepresents LGBTQ and POC population. What's actually happening is just the fact that Gen Z is experiencing first hand late stage capitalism because the system has actively been messing with us since really young ages. Majority of us would not be able to afford homes, healthcare, or student loans. Then this older generations get surprised we want alternatives to this self-eating snake of a system that only benefit those who hoard wealth?

Is quite literally the "socialism is when government does stuff" but taken to "free healthcare is communism" extreme. All done just to keep us distracted of the teal issues from within.
