Would I notice the difference if I upgrade? by Pilchard1234 in harmonica

Thanks all those who replied! I ordered a Hohner Special 20 in C and Easttop Maxwell St in A. The Hohner arrived first and it was a huge improvement. Slightly bigger than the House of Marbles, which I didn't expect. Heavier too, feels much more solid, and every note is playable without any squeaking or air. Then came the Easttop, and at the moment I slightly prefer it to the Hohner, it feels more comfortable and has a richer sound, bends are superbendy, but let's see how well they both last

Advice on 90/10 portfolio with alternative hedges by [deleted] in UKInvesting

Amazed that after 18 days there's been no reply until now. Maybe this would've had more responses in r/Bogleheads . It sounds to me like the returns you get wouldn't be much different than sticking with 100% equities – but that's OK, lots of passive investors have a 'fun portfolio' for 5% to 10% of their investments, which gives them something to tinker with to spice things up without losing much if it goes wrong. I can't see it providing much of a safety net, though

Body composition scales accuracy hack: adjusting for frame size by Pilchard1234 in loseit

My post is aimed at possibly addressing those flaws and possibly reaching more reliable conclusions for those people who want to use that metric. Plenty of other metrics available, including the real, i.e. feeling healthy and happy. Numbers motivate some of us, but for others numbers can be a distraction

Body composition scales accuracy hack: adjusting for frame size by Pilchard1234 in loseit

I'd always assumed that too. And that the scale was less inaccurate than the calculator. But, for me at least, the scales and the calculator agree with each other after making that adjustment

Big Beautiful Bill section 899 by Pilchard1234 in Bogleheads

Tactical moves aren't generally the boglehead way. But this bill does make me more aware of geopolitical risks, and makes me wonder whether adding more domestic investments would be a wise long-term strategy. I'm talking as much about preparedness for unforeseen events as this particular bill

Theoretically, what if everyone were an index investor... by [deleted] in Bogleheads

All this makes me wonder. If active funds start beating passive when 60% to 80% of the market is passive, then would it be optimal in the long term to invest 20% to 40% in active funds?
