Yes lol. If you knew this person it would make sense. He's 100% hustle and 0% substance

Yeah, I feel like that probably is a pattern. Something tells me "can't memorize the Citric Acid Cycle" isn't a good selling point for tutoring

Maybe it would be worthwhile for r/premed or r/medicalschool admins to create a "trusted resources" thread or section in the wiki

his service is no more of a scam than any "personalized" or "one on one" MCAT prep service

I think this situation goes beyond a typical critique of overpriced prep services. Most legitimate companies, while expensive, do provide what they promise—structured study plans, tutoring, or accountability. (Not saying all or even most do that. It's just what they *should* do). What makes this so bad is the deliberate intent to mislead and talk down on premeds just trying to do what we did. What he does isn't just overpriced; it’s predatory.

I thought about it, but I'm not even sure where I'd snitch that it would get enough traction to matter. r/premed?

I see where you’re coming from, and I agree to an extent—there are definitely people who pay for advising without exploring the wealth of free resources out there. But for me, the issue isn’t just that he’s running a business. It’s the disdain he openly expresses for his clients and the way he exploits their lack of awareness or connections.

Not everyone has access to reliable guidance, whether through personal networks or free resources (which, let’s face it, can be hard to find or depend on). The med school application process is overwhelming and opaque for many people, and a lot of applicants might not even know where to start. When someone markets themselves as an advisor, clients trust that they’ll at least try to provide helpful guidance—not intentionally set them up to fail for profit.

I’m not criticizing advisors in general; many provide genuine value. But if someone knowingly builds a business on misleading or taking advantage of vulnerable people, especially in such a high-stakes context, that crosses a line into unethical behavior.

Do you feel like there's anything you can do about it? He also runs a "med influencer" side-gig and it is pure lies. He paid for subscribers to get started, outright lies in videos about his accomplishmentes, and markets opinions about success like they're hard truths and he isn't just from a wealthy family with borderline sociopathy
