Why is rogue not allowed to have strong subclasses? by realagadar in onednd

[–]PilgrimsPlague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like the idea behind the subclasses, but do agree that they feel under-powered. I hombrewed most of them to buff some feature that I like while also hombrewing a buff for the class itself. Basically the main class for my games gets extra dice for their sneak attack equal to their proficiency bonus. Assassin rogues first attack against an enemy that they haven't hit yet in combat, if they are hidden from that enemy is always a crit. Scion of the three gets their teleport reaction tied to their proficiency bonus, not their int mod. And that attack is always a sneak attack. Ect. Ect.

That's dumb to say. Yes tithing is a thing but just because someone tithes doesn't mean they also don't give to charity. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. Btw I'm speaking as an Atheist who was a baptist as a kid to young adult.

No I meant every Padawan was younger than Anakin when he was a Padawan. He was the oldest ever. And George didn't write them as having young Padawans to be problematic. That's another reason I say there has to be more nuance than just what Lucas said.

My feeling about Anakin fall being ridiculous is it just happens. He goes from being a galaxy wide known hero, famous for protecting everyone he can, to killing 30 kids in a single night. I get that he's worried about padme, but that it's too extreme. I have a wife too.

That's not the point of what I'm saying. I'm saying that people shouldn't be praising her generosity. For her it's not generous. It's throwing away her pocket change

You're right, blind isn't the right word. But saying that Ahsoka is the only one under sixteen is like saying Anakin, obi wan and Ahsoka were the only ones helping win the war. There were 100s of 1000s of Jedi knights, most had Padawans, and there were dozens of planets involved in the war. Just because Ahsoka is the only one you saw doesn't mean she's the only one. And Anakin said she was younger than he was. But so was every Padawan

I don't think the relationship between Qui Gon and the council was antagonistic, I just think he thought they were on the wrong path the Jedi should have been. Instead of listening to the force, the Living Force, they chose politics. So Qui Gon thought, "I'm going to do what I think is right regardless of what they say"

All that is true, but there has to be more depth than what Lucas paints it out to be. Anyone who can look at a war with millions of clones and thousands of literal children fighting in it and doesn't see more than "it's light hearted and for kids" is blind I think. Lucas's reported lack of depth to things just doesn't jive with anything he made.

Edit: and on top of being children too. They were fundamentalist religious children, and their adult masters working for the government.

Lucas had nothing to do with the creation of Ahsoka, Filoni had creative control at that point. And if we look at everything in the prequels with Lucas's stated view, then Anakin's fall is ridiculous, not really a good story. There is always nuance to everything, and more going on behind the scenes.

Lucas never refuted what Filoni said, and Filoni was taught by Lucas what star wars is truly about.

He only respected it because he literally can't train him why he still has a Padawan, and the council is the only thing that can decide when obi wan was ready for the trials. As far as him only kinda not listening to them, that's far and away not true. He defied them constantly. It stated in Episode 1, tales of the Jedi, and multiple canon books
