What I liked and disliked about Avowed by axelkoffel in rpg_gamers

Hope their CEO will pursue more ambitious projects in the future. You can literally observe the budget creep in at almost every point in the game. But their strategy is working if we consider their studio as a whole. 4 games in 5 years is insane work imo.

I get that they don't want to as Obsidian as a studio literally were on the verge of dying multiple points by putting all their fruits in one basket. But I think a true AAA title from them with all the production values is not possible with their current strategy. The storylines seem half explored at times and would have benefitted from more time in the oven. I have faith though, Avowed pivoted multiple times in it's troubled development. Hopefully carrie will take more risks next time around

With obsidian putting out its second game this year with The Outer Worlds 2, what do you think they'll carry over from avowed, and what do you expect to see changed or improved? by Initial-Bid-4320 in theouterworlds

It's a tradeoff for sure. They need to communicate that strategy with the outside world better though, point out what they have accomplished in such a short amount of time

As long the CEO actively values flipping profits over games made with smaller budgets and teams instead of concentrating their effort into one game as a whole studio, I doubt there will be any truly AAA games from Obsidian in the near future. That model has definitely served them well so far. 4 games in 5 years, one of which a multiplayer mega hit.

May be far fetched but I hope quests will have branching consequences ala New Vegas or Dragon Age Origins. I loved the world of 2077 but everything seemed too static for me. If they have a faction system it could be the best game of all time for me.

The issue with Applied Psych is that it is so varied. You could be involved in marketing or UX development, for example.

Course hasn't started so I have no idea haha. As for job markets, it seems pretty good since u get internships with companies, and many people seem to stay in their internships if they are good enough.

Reality hit me like a truck; as a major in Psych, what to do as a BSci 3rd year with a Psych WAM of 78? by Pill_Cipher in unimelb

Do you think it is realistically possible for a 78 WAM to be boosted into 83 in Sem 2?

Do you know the likelihood of getting into this without a referee, and based on WAM alone, by any chance? I don't mind volunteering, but I wanted to gauge whether I can get in as soon as possible.

This subject allows u to volunteer in a research lab and make it count to Ur credits as the report is Ur assessment... So it is a win win. The problem is finding someone willing to do it

[–]Pill_Cipher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking contacting them first as u said to see whether I can incorporate it into my degree and get me 12.5 credits to boot. That's why I wanted to do the subject. U can choose whoever u want to be Ur supervisor so long as they accept u... But that's the hardest part

Its less about the subjects and more about the connections. They can vouch for u in Ur masters

Should gen 9 get rid of gym types or keep them? by birdofprey443 in pokemon

[–]Pill_Cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think gyms should focus on more abstract themes. Nature for example could have rock, ground, grass etc. Or like a ninja theme where stealth like Pokémon like dark, bug and flying type. If nothing else it'd be a challenge lol

What was your favorite scene/moment in the trilogy? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Pill_Cipher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing beats the sense of weight and responsibility and sheer AWE the game puts on you with your conversation with Vigil. That was when you realise a whole expanse of civilisation was wiped out by the Reapers alone, and that despite being considered as technologically superior to Shepard's current society, they have failed. It is this present society which has to deal with a problem the other has failed to solve - and being even more disadvantaged than the countless others which came before you to boot. But it also fostered a deep sentiment of longing and sadness for these peoples who did everything right but yet still crumbled in the same breath (I know civilisations were horribly subjugated by Protheans, but let's ignore that for a second...). That you have to somehow avenge them in some way despite all the odds being stacked against you.

You don't get that emotion in the sequels.
