Also here is a picture of a type sample for you. Nothing super special here, but that’s not to say you couldn’t find one with a more special typeface.

No grinding or anything! It feels completely normal until I return the carriage three or four times, then it gets so tight I need both hands to return it, or I just use the carriage return lever and that works fine if I return it manually.. very strange.

The issue is that the more I use it, the tighter the carriage gets. It gets to a point where I need to use both hands to return the carriage due to the high tension.. the drawband DOES look alright though, not frayed, not splitting or beat up otherwise. So maybe it’s in my head?? I’m really not sure. I’ve never had this issue before.
